But this strip should have ended one panel earlier. Mrs. Horner’s comment should have been the end of the strip. Luann being lazy does not make anyone happier and depreciates what Mrs. Horner was saying.

Also I may have over reacted to last weeks story.

This should have been two panel.

Puddles seems to have gotten on board.

To be fair he would probably be delighted to see her grow up and get a life.

Way to miss Mrs. Horner’s point, Luann . . . which, as we all know, was the whole point of today’s strip. Sigh. What’s the point of it all?

Mrs. Horner is 100% correct.

She’s happy being home with her family and her dog, not doing anything in particular and enjoying this moment in her life…rather than complaining that it’s not exciting enough. She doesn’t need to be in any hurry to go skydiving or latch onto a new relationship if that’s not what would make her happy right now. Pretty good lesson learned…

To answer Frank’s question, Luann is not going to be able to sensibly repeat Mrs. Horner’s philosophy and then have Frank understand it.

I don’t buy Ms.Horner’s theory. Focusing on making oneself happy is hedonistic. But, helping others become happy makes you happy.

I think Luann missed the key phrase “never at the expense of others, of course.”

So no one told you life was gonna be this way.

Happy watching something on her phone, sprawled across a chair, sipping something, and, eating Ramen? Guess Luan is happy with the “simple” life.

Luann always interprets what she hears to suit her own purposes.

I really like Mrs. Horner a lot, she’s a great role model for Luann. Maybe she’s following her advice in a weird way now. But Luann is really listening to her. Little by little, she will follow to her teachings about life with the same seriousness as she listens to her teachings about writing. For now, at least Puddles seems very happy too.

The negativity of most of the comments on this strip make me sad for the majority here, who seem to never enjoy anything without having rigid rules, and assumptions that are rarely proven.

Having a good attitude is very important to make other people happy. Making other people happy makes you happy…..

There may be some minor expense to others in this case. My beloved Luann means well though.

As usual Luann makes it about herself to heck with everyone else.

The artwork looks odd. Or is it just me? Like somebody other than the usual artist drew it and tried to copy the original artist’s style.

And her father doesn’t look very happy.

It does sound selfish and hedonistic. I am not impressed.

Does Luann pay rent now? I can’t remember. If so, then I’ll agree she’s being happy without costing her parents anything.

I would have liked one more panel today – the one where Luann spills all that stuff in Frank’s chair! Woulda been classic!

Then there are people who are only happy when the other is not.. and will go to any length to assure that they are not

put your own mask on first before helping others……a parallel i.e. you are much more helpful and fun to be around when you are happy yourself.

I’d feel more sympathy for Frank if this weren’t a direct result of his parenting. Kids do what you let them do, after all.

Define “happiness”. For many of us, it is NOT narcissism or hedonism.

Hey Luann, I think Mrs Horner was referring to another source of happiness i.e. coming from activity, motivation and achievement etc.

When she gets out of his chair Frank will be happy.

I’m just surprised she is hanging out in the living room rather than her bedroom. Most of her age want to avoid any chance needing to talk to their boring parents.

Happiness is a state of well-being, an emotion ranging from mere contentment with the blessings we have (even if meager), to a deep and intense joy in living. So it comes from within. It thus differs from external pleasures, stimulation or accumulation of material stuff.
