i’m sure that many a kid has wished for summers to go slowly and for the school days to go quickly. ;D

Especially in Minnesota, where Peanuts takes place. Brrrrrrr!

It seems faster every year!

Oh my gawd! It is almost time in a couple months for the Great Pumpkin to come pay a visit!

Linus is probably making plans to keep a watch out soon.

There are only two seasons according to the Icelandic calendar – summer and winter. Summer officially starts on the Thursday that comes from April 19-25, and ends on the Friday that is on October 20-27. That’s what the calendar says. The weather tends to disagree.

Truth

Astronomallicy because our orbit around the sun is not perfectly circular, there is one extra day in summer over winter since our forward movement during summertime is slightly slower due to our being further away from the sun.

Why do Summers fly and Winters walk?

Now in my 60’s and I’ve learned that time accelerates as one ages. Summer vacation used to last forever, now summers go by in the wink of an eye (winters, falls and springs, too).

Summer days may be gone, but in some places, summer weather will probably stick around until Thanksgiving…

Just the opposite in Phoenix!

And the time waiting for the start of football season is absolutely crawling!

I like all four seasons, my favorite is Autumn.

Summers fly pretty quickly for us who are working.

For the Northern Hemisphere, summer is longer than winter. The Earth is closer to the sun in winter (not by much) which means it speeds along its orbit a bit faster according to a guy named Kepler.

I did the math and was surprised. I expected it to be a matter of hours; it’s actually several days. Look up the dates for the beginning of Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter and you can do the same calculations yourself.

Maybe a good research science project for grade school.

Wishing summer would fly a little faster (and farther).

Lots of summer left here in southeast New Mexico.

winters “trudge” through the snow, through the ice, through the cold, through the dark. ah yes Linus winters don’t just “walk” they “trudge” slowly like an old man who has worked a 10-hour shift in a factory for 6 days in a row.

And the school year crawls.

Winters snuggle up and sip hot mulled cider or coca. Summers lay sprawled on the ground and try not to move. ;)

Where I live, summer doesn’t fully release it’s grasp until mid October. There might be a few days in September that I call “Coming Attractions”. I look forward to light jacket weather.

Winters don’t walk – they crawl.

I watched Lucy’s School on Apple TV the other day. It really leaned heavily on the melancholy kids feel at that time of year.

The solution to that is move to Arizona. Here the summers linger, the rains flee, and winter only occurs on Christmas movie videos. As it should be.

Time is relative.

And the days dwindle down to a precious few..September…November…..

Life before climate change went too far. Now, who knows? Jogging? Jumping jacks? Push ups?

I’ll have to disagree with both Charlie Brown and Linus on this one. Summers drag on, especially July and August. And the warmer temperatures have been arriving sooner and staying later during the past couple of decades. The heat from the southern latitudes is slowly creeping northward. Not a good thing.

In Scotland summer never comes, for anyone from anywhere south of here, and winter crawls. Slowly. Spring is nice….

Very true, but actually even entire years seem to be flying by faster to me these days. So much to do, so little time.

Winter doesn’t walk here in Florida where we get nice weather.

Having spent my work career working mostly outside, I prefer the cold of a Mid-Atlantic winter over the swampy heat of our summers.

Depends on where you live. In California’s central valley, the summers are long, hot, and monotonous, and the winters are cool, refreshing, and too short!

You can say that, again!

We are into cool and cloudy for the last week of summer vacation. Hopefully the kids can squeeze it for all it’s worth.

Where I live, I feel like summer doesn’t really end until the first week of October sometimes.

The temperature doesn’t matter in this case. For kids, summer ends when school starts

Walk? No. Winter’s a drag.

“Summers Fly, Winters Walk” was the name of a Peanuts collection book when I was young.

I disagree. Summers drag on forever. I’m so ready for it to cool down. I don’t mind winters.
