But really, that’s only dividing it 4 ways. We’ve never seen any indication that the woman has a paying job. (We know she’s a hard working stay at home mom for 2 kids and 4 cats. I hope this is where we discover that she is also a cartoonist.)
So if they do something like this and one of them moves, is that person still responsible for their share of the mortgage? I mean, they’re not all going to live there for the rest of their lives.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: It is an honor to see a fellow monarch off on their journey Across the River, Your Majesty.
Puckmosis: You have seen your country through hard times and good times.
Queen Elizabeth: I have endeavoured to carry out my duties to the best of my abilities. Now I feel it is time to lay down my burdens and go on the Next Adventure.
Elvis-Anum: You have certainly earned the right to embark on new adventures.
Lupinium: May your Next Adventure be filled with joy and excitement.
Queen Elizabeth: Thank you, all. Now to meet my beloved husband, my mum and dad, and so many family and friends who have gone before.
The most shocking part of this strip is that Tommy is WHISPERING. He always gives me the impression that he’s turned up to 11! At least until Sophie tells him to chill out.
Great! I am glad we are finally bringing Ceiling Woman into this! Hopefully we will get to see more of the upstairs apartment. I also love that the Woman has remained in her burrito. Such coziness cannot be lightly shed.
OT: The Robber Mice are based on real pet mice! Georgia posted on facebook with a picture of Elvis on top of the mouse cage "Twelve years ago… the real life Alice charged Elvis! Yes, there really was a real Alice, Natasha, Agnes, and Violet. (There was a real Agatha, too! And a Nancy.) When I named the robber mice, I named them after several of the real pet mice the Man and I had cared for together when we were dating and first married. Alice in particular was absolutely fearless, and an escape artist. To explain this picture: I thought I was taking a photo of Elvis sitting on the mouse cage. I did not realize why Elvis was on the mouse cage, until I saw Alice out (!!!) and charging him as I took this picture. I made a dash seconds later and got her securely back into the cage. Then I comforted a very confused, rattled Elvis, lol!! I don’t think he ever expected one of the mice to show up on the other side of the bars. He has never tried to attack a mouse or pet rat, he seems to enjoy the company of rodents—but I’d never trust that to always be the case in any cat, no matter how cool they had been in the past. I scooped Alice up as fast as I could, but it was Elvis who was spooked, ha!!Alice often patrolled the edges of the cage, while Violet and Agnes snoozed in the wheel. Natasha similarly was pretty active, and a cheery little personality. They were great gals. Alice was an itty bitty heroic force of nature though, as you can see. I’ve never met a mouse like Alice, she was spectacular as far as brave little warriors go. She didn’t hesitate to try and run down Elvis, and he was THOROUGHLY BEWILDERED. "
I love how the woman is still wrapped in a blanket—clearly this was important enough to do right now and not stop and, y’know, try and look more presentable first. :P
To add to my comment yesterday about a lawyer, each of them now will also need a very careful ethical accountant to handle the tax and mortgage implications, if they don’t already have one. (If they take in a renter, add business expenses to that mix.)
I had to blowv that last panel up. Couldn’t believe Elvis was saying hi to Tabitha, and seemingly saying it nicely at that. I was right too, the speech bubble (or maybe whisper bubble is right since the line framing the bubble is dotted) is pointing to Tommy.

There are three households/families, so it should be split three ways. Unless the apartments are wildly different sizes, of course.

In the UK paying rent is more costly than paying a mortgage.
