I like vocative commas. They are so polite and address you correctly. Right, commas?

Sometimes it feels like I’m in a coma, not a comma……,

When I want to get possessive, I tell them I am an apostrophe…

I’m familiar with Ford Mustangs, but not Ford Oxen, comma think of it.

I prefer having/using the Oxford comma. Otherwise that last two items may seem linked and may confuse the meaning like Dirty Dragon’s example of: “… her parents, Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton.”

Criminently! I was not familiar with the term “Oxford comma” so I looked it up. There are pages and pages on the subject. No wonder we can’t get anything done in this world! We’re all too busy fussing over tiny little pauses, and where to put them.

Best reason for Oxford commas? “I like cooking my wife and kids.”

It would have been nice to have actually used an Oxford comma in the word balloon. It would then look like you knew what you were talking about, how to use it, and be informative.

Never heard of this. if it clarifies the intended meaning of a sentence, fine. But a simple series of items (where “and” is sitting in place of a final comma, as in “At the store, I picked up milk, butter and eggs”) doesn’t need it.
