I guess I’m lucky (or plain weird) that getting shots or having blood drawn does not bother me in the least. However, if I saw a needle heading towards my eye, I think that would be a different story (yikes)!

Become Tommy’s belly …

Years ago, my mom was in the hospital having some minor, but uncomfortable, surgery. My dad gave a teddy bear to hug as she recovered. Many years later my cousin Ruthie was having surgery, and my mom gave her George the teddy bear to hug. Later Ruthie gave George to her daughter when she was expecting her first child.To this day, George continues his healing ministry as a recovery buddy to my family.

Must.Rub.Furry.Tommy.Tummy.

Tommy helps people overcome their vaccination fears and gets unlimited tummy rubs. Win-win!

Pattern or magic?….

It’s cute when they curl their toes like that in panel 3.

A nurse told me that if you look the other way when a shot is being given it will not hurt, or as much and it is over before you know it. Good shot givers will tell you ‘You will feel a prick’ and ’ I will give you the shot in 1, 2, 3’ so that anticipation is lessened.

Sure, THEY get cute therapy pets like Trevor and Tommy. All I had were young, strong, attractive soldiers in camouflage during my shots. (I’m jealous)

I actually think of petting my cat or walking with her when getting an injection.

I have a classic( bullseye pattern) Maine cook too, just like tommy but red. His name is pepper. I also have a broken knee despite a knee replacement prosthesis. Pepper has not left my side during this time. He even rides in my wheelchair.

I am 13 and I am excited. Today dad told me I am going to get my first vaccine shot over the weekend. I just wanted to share that.
