FYI: Straights are not allowed in stud poker unless agreed to in advance by the table.Maverick lost for not knowing this in an episode entitled, “According to Hoyle.”
One of my favorite metaphors is the idea that life is like, (OK, simile then!) playing a game of chess with death. All you can do is play the best you can and hope he doesn’t beat you in three moves! Even if you do the best you can, death will still win….In this cartoon, even if you play your cards right, death will still win somehow……..
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!” Hunter S Thompson (Didn’t he kill himself by using a gun to the head?)

No matter what cards he’s dealt, he’ll definitely have a killer hand.

Poker? I always thought Death’s game was chess (see Ingmar Bergman’s 1957 film “The Seventh Seal”).

Coleridge says Death rolls the bones, too. In The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Death is playing with Life-in-Death, female:
The naked hulk alongside came,/ And the twain were casting dice;/ ‘The game is done! I’ve won! I’ve won!’/ Quoth she, and whistles thrice.

Any chance one of the other players will tell Death where the White House is?
