Right. The wisdom of the ages is perpetuated by the altruistic self-motivation with the aesthetic incorrigibility of the aspirations toward eternal truth. Or something like that…

99.9%+ of all species that ever existed are now extinct. And people are worried about some obscure moth becoming extinct somewhere. Extinction is nature’s way of adapting. It’s called natural selection.

Knowing that your entire race will go extinct is peace of mind? Huh?

“Replaced by Another” is true until the sun swallows the Earth and then nothing replaces living things.

Captain Eddie seems deflated…

Eternal Truth Guy didn’t say every living thing will be replaced by another living thing.

So the planet always something to look forward to.

If it wasn’t for the fact that I watched a Stephen colbert monologue on YT this week, I would have no idea what he was actually mourning about.

I’m convinced Wiley drew this months ago but waited until Belichick retired officially before releasing it.

Anthropologist Jared Diamond’s 2005 book Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed detailed how half a dozen historical cultures met their ends. And clearly they must have seen it coming, yet did nothing (or too little) to prevent it. But those were isolated groups — on islands, in valleys, in remote states — and the rest of the planet survived. The same cannot be said about climate change.

Wikipedia also mentions the common factor in most of those societal implosions: “The root problem in all but one of Diamond’s factors leading to collapse is overpopulation relative to the practicable (as opposed to the ideal theoretical) carrying capacity of the environment. One environmental problem not related to overpopulation is the harmful effect of accidental or intentional introduction of non-native species to a region.”

To paraphrase Heraclitus the Obscure, “The only constant is change.” It sounds cooler in the original Greek.

I wonder what percentage of all extinct life species were deliberately and knowingly done in by another species, like humans are doing to so many of the species we share the Earth with.

From every point of view, it means that “Every great dinasty of XXX is over”. Replace XXX with whatever you hate most to fullfill your hopes/expectations.

Growing up in Massachusetts in the 70’s, the Patriots always got “Participation Trophys”. Pretty much like the Red Sox seeking a World Series win. It was nice when they finally became a formidable force in the NFL. Don’t worry….they’ll be back.

This is why religion is more popular than science. In religion, the truth is always the truth and never changes. In science there is no such thing as truth. That which is perceived as true can be overthrown by fact.

Some people cannot abide the “fickleness” (or wokeness) of science.

As a Steeler fan since the 1960’s I can give a bit of advice. Move on. Find a hobby. Stop watching football.

Ole bill billechick…news made such a fuss, one might think he was important. And his ego won’t let him relax, nope, he’s looking for another coach job.

Lots of things he could do. Get some of his buddies, visit the kids at Children’s Hospital. Be a spokesman for non profits.Hang around dunkin and talk about the old days, geezers love to do that.

Curiously I am not moved by the failures of professional teams. Haven’t watched any professional sports since the early 60’s, when average player salary surpassed the annual salary of POTUS. Left off watching college level basket ball over 20 years ago, when Coach K finally gave in to the once-and-done-spend-a-year ‘prepping a pro draftee’ for the big time. About the same time ACC became USACC with teams from everywhere posted to the Atlantic Coast Conference. And all the game rule changes didn’t help.

Can we at least give Jerod Mayo a chance? He has a lot of positives his corner!!!!!

I shall be extinct someday; I wonder if anyone will miss me.

If the timing of this strip appearing today was really coincidental, that’s one heck of a coincidence…

This was done before last week’s events, I imagine. Frankly, the Patriots have not been good for awhile, and as a football fan I think it’s good for the game. Now if we could just make some real course corrections for college football . . .

I used to wonder why the cat on his shoulder always looked in the opposite direction that they were traveling – then I realized he’s watching Eddie’s back.

Don’t feel bad New England. Just think if you were a Browns or Lions fan. The Browns had Bill Belichick and Nick Saban on the same staff and couldn’t win. If those coaches are the greatest of all time and couldn’t take a team to a championship, I don’t think anybody can. I think whoever takes one of those teams to a Super Bowl and wins a championship should be the greatest coach of all time.

Sports fanatics build nice stadiums for owners and religious fanatics build big houses for pastors. Both with tax payer assistance.

Pogo replied that he was wondering if there was life on other planets. Wally said, “Either we’re alone or we’re not.” There was a moment of silence between them, then Pogo replied, “Either way, it’s a mighty sobering thought.”

Is “dynasty” synonymous with “cheating operation?”

Sir Badger, you must not read the science news. There is no reason to believe our home planet alone has intelligent life. Humans cannot even count the stars and planets and moons, and perhaps other possibilities our limited data cannot yet fathom. Or, perhaps they are here, already, controlling our world and orchestrating our destruction while posing as government officials. At least science is not convinced.

Seeing as how part of that “dynasty” included Deflategate, I say good riddance.
