I have seen Third World poverty most of my life. Poverty in the USA would be considered opulence by their standards. But I have had friends here who grew up in poverty. It is more violent here. It’s just an observation.

I was out walking in my neighborhood the other day thinking how amazingly well-off I am. My wife and I have a two-bedroom condo and two cars. We can eat out at will and go on vacation at least once a year. It seems almost unimaginable to me that anyone could not be happy with that. Well, maybe a family with a lot of kids, and even then, I grew up in a family with 6 kids and 3 bedrooms, so it wouldn’t take a lot more.

The only TV program to make me feel truly envious was Treehouse Masters. I really didn’t give a hoot about the stupid treehouses, I just wanted to know how these people could afford such an absurd luxury.

Remember, no matter how good you have it, somebody else has it better.

It’s like the little girl in the AT&T commercial who was happy to get a lollipop until her brother got a bigger one. She immediately remarks, “That’s not fair!” That’s probably a valid reaction for a 7-year-old child.

Unfortunately, the commercial is aimed at adults and not at grade school children. Unfortunately, adults agree with it.

The uncomfortable question is “Why is it not fair?” Or do you just accept that it is unfair without questioning it.?

Commenters dislike Luann or Tiffany or Caulfield, etc. Danae is my least liked character; although, I admit she pleasantly surprised me a few days ago. Fortunately, I like almost all the other NS characters.

A colleague of mine gave his daughter a car for her 17th birthday, a very nice 4 door sedan in excellent condition. She was keenly disappointed, called it a “granny car”, said she could never face her friends. So he kept the car for himself; as for the ungrateful baggage, nada.

Diane is such a great character of Wiley’s. I often wonder if she represents his belief of what the mindset is of a republican. I believe many republicans see her has an entitled liberal. It is all a matter of perspective and Wiley does a great job highlighting our perceptions daily.

There is a pretty good chance that if people could only own one home, the housing shortage would end quickly. There are 1.7 MILLION unoccupied houses in Florida alone.(Be sensible, trolls, I’m not picking on Florida, there are plenty of unoccupied houses in California, as well)

I live in a comfy neighborhood. Well established, one acre lots, clean and quiet. No HOA or zoning. Even so, we’re the poor folks on the block. Two cars but older, no RV or camper, no boat, no satellite dish. Somehow we manage… Seriously, I feel very fortunate.

I’ve never understood those “Real Housewives From So-and-So City” shows when none of them ever did a lick of housework in their lives.

And Dusenberg’s usually sell for over one million dollars at auction.
