Most dinosaurs and most ammonites went extinct at the same time. Ammonites had tentacles. There must have been an epic war between them.

Do a thought experiment: Go 60 million years into the future and see if there’s any evidence that mammals had evolved a branch with brains, tools, society, war… Now look back 60 million years. Can you imagine that the ‘saurs developed a branch with brains, tools, society, war… and now there’s not a shred of evidence.

I think there may have been other intelligent beings worshiping them as totems instead of worshiping The One And Only that actually created this planet.

Actually, dinosaurs were going extinct long before Chixulub. If they weren’t, then why are 99.9% of fossils found BELOW the K-T line and not at, or above it?

It was a virus that wiped out the unbeatable space aliens in “The War of the Worlds”. Hope enough people have seen the movie or read the book that this isn’t a spoiler. ;-)

Dinosaur Fascists caused a total collapse of Dinosaur society, leading to anarchy and widespread shortages of beer and pizza. After that, the fat lady sang.

Dinosaurs probably did suffer from a number of pathogens after their environment drastically changed. The more adaptive stress required to deal with changed surroundings, the more dangerous common pathogens become. Sound familiar?

An Isaac Asimov short story in 1950 suggested that some roughly-human-sized dinosaurs developed intelligence and technology, then invented guns, and then had loads of fun hunting the bigger dinos – and eventually themselves – to extinction. The time traveler who saw a bit of this says that the resemblance to humanity’s chain of events is pretty suggestive….

The information I’ve heard is that the dinos were already on the way out, with the next ice age just starting and other issues going on. The asteroid just hastened things.

I think Disney’s Fantasia is on the right track. They lost their environment. Look at where all the oil is – mostly desert regions that were once under water. Dinos were on every continent and for a meteor to wipe them out it would have to be global. But, seeing as Wiley is here I’m glad that didn’t happen.

SARS Co V2 proved to be an accurate facsimile those who never caught it can be counted as the survivors of the zombie apocalypse. Those who caught it and “survived” are the zombies.

Gifted boys! I raised a pair, and taught many! Actually, I enjoyed teaching gifted boys, less emotional than gifted girls… Though, I only had them through grade 5. The girls were still fun in fifth grade. Personally, my peers and I lost it in grade 8, or there about. We weren’t labeled back then, just “tracked” in junior high school into “groups”. My jr. high class had 14 groups, the top 3 took French. We were the kids who had been in top reading and math groups since early elementary…. I moved to that town in third grade. My older brother was in his fifth grade year, but according to a score on the Iowa test (very early 1970s) and whatever they were doing in content subjects, his teachers and the principal recommended he skip sixth grade, and then he was placed in the top group in that Junior High School. They took Earth Science in 8th grade. All three top groups took Algebra in 8th grade. Our current day gifted magnet middle, here in Va. Beach, and the gifted magnet middle schools in Jacksonville, Fl. (My eldest attended 6th grade there) take accelerated math and science, so they can have both Earth Science and Algebra in 8th grade. The only difference is they can choose languages. What’s in a name?
