It’s those eevil birds, I say. It’s all their conspiracy. They always sit on em electric wires and overload them electrical grids to failures.

Around here it’s usually a squirrel in a transformer, or a possum in a substation. (I’m not joking.)

City, nothing. The Great Northeast Blackout of 2003, which blacked out everything from Michigan to the Atlantic Ocean, and Ohio to Hudson’s Bay, was caused by trees brushing against power lines near Cincinnati.

In August 2004, a squirrel in Ohio crapped on a transformer knocking out the entire northeastern US, parts of Canada and the rust belt….

    |It’s not silly until a Cat explains it.

And it costs a fair amount more to put it underground.

Huey Lewis and the News: The Power of Love

The power grid is a curious thing

One day it’s working, the next nothing,

Changes warm and cozy to a thing of the past

The power grid doesn’t always last!

    …….

Stronger than kibble, rich like cream

No lights or head, just like a bad dream,

In the dark, out of sight

The power grid you sure need at night!

    …….

You may have money, may have fame

It doesn’t matter when power goes down the drain

All of a sudden, it’s gone like that,

And it’s annoying to a cat!

    That’s the power grid

    That’s the power grid

The future is buried utilities and solar.

Solar panels on your house/apartment roof will provide your home some power, or all of it, depending on your location and solar exposure. The market for solar power storage is estimated to be about $7 billion dollar a year market by 2025, and growing. That kind of money promotes innovation.

There will always be a need to be tied into the grid as a backup, and, buried utilities are safer for people and less prone to failure.

Can’t disagree. Why, when everyone knows how to bury power lines, do power companies continue to string the wires on poles? I know, it is the cheapest way. Except its not when you add in all the crews going around cutting back tree limbs to prevent downed power lines, its not the lowest cost anymore

Hey all.. a couple weeks ago I bought my cat some cat grass for the first time. A few days ago I noticed it was starting to turn yellow – I have no idea how to care for it. I put it in the window behind some shades so it could get some sunlight (HA!.. oh winter, you fiend) ..only to last night have my cat standing at the food bowl, next to where the catgrass had been, almost yowling!! ..so I ran to the window and got her catgrass back, and she ran and followed me back and started chomping on it (it was so adorable!!).. .. so the length of my question is: how do I take care of cat grass? It was hard to find.
