He must have a really great school system. Just 17 days ago the kid who wrote down on a quiz that 6+5=6, now knows the definition of linear thought and discordant images!

Linear thought is over-rated.

Pretty well said for someone with no capacity for linear thought.

I think this explains a lot of things. Being spoon-fed entertainment or news eliminates the need to use your brain.

I enjoy movies, and to a certain extent, some TV shows but I’d rather read books. You have to “put yourself into” a book to enjoy it. Reading requires that you translate the squiggles into words and the words into pictures and the words and pictures into concepts and to fit it all into a larger framework. It takes a brain to do this.

Like any other part of the body, the brain needs exercise or it will get flabby.

Kids say the darnedest things…

Yeah, I get it. I remember the days when TV seemed wonderful and over whelming. Now it just takes to long to get to the point and move on.

And so begins the culture of child morbid obesity.

I’m not addicted to TV. I can turn it off any time I like. I just choose not to.

Calvin in reruns remains relevant.

Frank Zappa was right when he sang about the slime from the video. What’s worse is that it has now spread to include our phones so it isn’t tied to the TV anymore.

Back then great programing for children, today’s time shows halted not very child friendly, for me TV most days off, I been doing a lot of reading yes on paperbacks. Finished a 4 book series husband is reading, I will donate as they are Christian books based on 1770 to 1778 to our church library. Book reading now is on a race car driver narrated by his dog. Been interesting, and then my other books. No politics and no commercials.

So many of us are slaves to the almighty screen…be it the TV, or phone, or tablet, or PC, or the big screen….time to pick up a good book…and not an e-book
