Ah yes, the frozen aggressive poses, usually accompanied by growling, maybe even yowling.

OT: All the advocates for the word “hork” can congratulate yourselves on your hard work in getting the word into the English lexicon.

I read the word in published book, and the author felt no need to try to explain what the word meant, indicating she felt the word was well-known enough it would not need explaining. Anyone who cares to find it, it was Death in the Stacks by Jenn McKinlay, published 2017, a part of the Library Lover’s Mystery series.

Yes, when I read the word, my first thought was all of you here.

I’m glad the iron is unplugged (for safety), but I don’t like seeing it there on the end of the board, where it could easily get knocked over or grabbed and used as an illegal wrestling prop!♥

I’ve seen this kind of feline staredown, and yes, it can go on for hours. But their ears should be flattened back against their heads.

Goldie’s smirk and fangs, along with Lupin’s scowl, are making my morning!

OFF TOPIC 1: Paul is getting some relief from the new pain meds and is getting his appetite back! he still can’t swallow much in the way of solid food, but I hope to be able to get purees into him,

OFF TOPIC 2: I found out yesterday who Yum Yum’s tormentor is. he belongs to a neighbour a couple of doors down, and his name is George. He is very friendly and likes tummy rubs. Yum Yum gave me the stink eye when I came back in, and I am getting it again as I write this.

New puppy came home Thursday. She came home a week early due to the virus and fears of a full lock down. Not 100 percent prepared. Doing a puppy playpen pick up today, due to losing my mind. Forgot how much energy the little monster has and then passes out, scared me to pieces yesterday she was playing at my feet and next minute couldn’t find her. Asleep by my easy chair where I do my knitting. lol But she is such a ray of sunshine in this scary time. Asking for boops while my three pommies adjust to the (already their size) puppy invasion.

When do we get to the trash talking? I had a Siamese who was so good at the trash talking, he never had to fight. He would start when the other cat was a block away. That cat would cross to the other side of the street rather than tangle with an “obviously” felinicidal Siamese.

Off-Topic Post: the Quarantine just got Real

Bella is a fine and loving dog, but she loves to play and cuddle all day long; she’s already a favorite at Day-Boarding at our Vet’s office and she loves to go. Sadly, they announced yesterday that they won’t be offering Day-Boarding for the duration of the “Shelter in Place” order, so she will be home with me. I’m afraid my productivity is going to take a real hit while we both adjust to this new “normal”.

Today is “Walking Around Things Day.” If one has cats, that’s every day, thanks to felis subpedalis and felis impedimentum; also if your home is cluttered … and if you have even one cat, your house is cluttered, no saving throw. So watch your step.

OT: Anyone else teleworking? I do so a couple of days a week now. (We need at least one in the office at all times.)Any feline-related issues? So far I’ve had no cats-on-key board problems, but there was one time when Sparrowbane was insisting he needed Dad Lap and the phone rang and he flipped out…It would probably help if I had a workspace that was more conducive to telework, but that isn’t happening anytime soon. Also, between my work collateral duties and my membership in the local amateur radio club, this is the sort of thing I track in more detail than the average person, so I strongly advise all to keep track of adjustments you’ve had to make, and especially any tweaks or improvements you wish you’d made in advance: History tells us that pandemics often come in waves, and they expect this one to die out in the Northern Hemisphere by the summer, but it may come back in the fall. I’m afraid I cannot advise our Antipodean friends, I haven’t seen any predictions for you.

I was going back to look through the transitional strips at the old site and wondering if the remaining “never seen in newspaper” transitional ones would appear in the last book. I found a stunning example of rarely seen Burt toe beans! We also got a really good view of Camera One and an epic Elvis poof filmed by Camera One.

    OT: Don’t beat yourself up.

This may have been posted here before, but it does bear repeating. Georgia posted some excellent advice on productivity during the quarantine. If you haven’t written the Great American Novel, housecleaned your home from top to bottom, or started working on your PhD, it’s OK. See the post on her Facebook home page:
