The Wiley bears operate a lot more quickly than how nature usually gets rid of human idiots. Except for the “hold my beer” kind.

Reel as in fishing reel? Some people like to like to hear the arguments of the opposite side, so this might catch some smart people as well. It is easier to refute an argument that you’ve heard before.

Buttercup claims there is nothing to the global warming threat, which is bad, although it’s coming relatively slower than Covit-19, which is imminent and real and nowhere near reaching is full potential for devastation. That bear is here and now. He at first denied it, then claimed he knew it long before anyone else. Question is: if he knew it, why did he do nothing to either inform the public or to try to prevent its spread? He condemns himself out of his own mouth. A pitiful example of a chief executive.

I think it’s obvious that most folks agree that global warming is real. The denial occurs when people disagree that it’s anthropomorphic (caused by people) and that there’s much that we can do to slow it down or stop it without returning to the “dark ages” or destroying civilization as we know it. Planetary climate changes have been going on for millenia as climate change over thousands of years is a normal phenomenon. So many “experts” try to claim it is caused by “x” or “y” without valid proof, hence the denial. A single huge volcanic eruption can cause as much climate change as what the entire industrial age may have caused (sans pollution) over the past hundred or two years. Even before there were “reasons” that the experts claim — climate cycled through its extremes. The plant and animal worlds either endured, adapted, or went extinct.

As long as humanity populates the earth, the cyclic nature of climate heating and cooling — “ice ages” etc. — will be noticed and measured and continue on without any major significant effect from our human activities. Changing the way societies function will not have a major change on the natural, cyclic nature of climate change, but will cause humanity to start new wars in an attempt to control it. Political differences will just accelerate the process — to the detriment of all humanity.

Some folks spend much energy making elaborate denial scenarios. Kinda silly at this late stage, like supporting a leader who stated goal is the destruction of yours and your family’s future.

“Never argue with an idiot, he will bring your down to his level and beat you out of sheer experience.” – Mark Twain.

Some people have a mind like a steel trap. It’s shut so firmly that nothing can get out. Unfortunately, nothing can get in either.

I cut my losses. I come off as patronizing when I say, “OK, you can keep on believing that.”

What would “valid proof” consist of? As Joeseph Cambell asked a priest "if you can logically prove the existence of God, what point is faith? Light a candle in a sealed jar that is where we are.

In other related news concerning denial:

A Virginia man who downplayed the seriousness of the coronavirus as merely the media “pumping out fear” has died after contracting the virus.

Landon Spradlin, 66, a pastor and traveling musician, died on Wednesday, March 25, at a hospital in North Carolina after testing positive for COVID-19.

    Is this irony or justice?

Well, no surprise here. Global warming deniers, flat earthers, anti vaxers, theist, etc are gullible. Technically, it’s not totally their fault. The US’s education system has been dumbing down educational standards to the point most high school graduates are not equipped for critical thinking. Normally that would not be too much of a problem. But now people are dying because we elected the most incompetent president in US history.

Our reaction, as a society, to COVID-19 accurately reflects what is happening in response to global-warming. In too many places, it is too little, too late.

We have been on self-isolation for over three weeks or more, and the curfew has gradually tightened to 2 pm – 5 am. One of the enjoyable (?) by-products of this is the current clarity of the air. No diesel fumes from buses and other types of pollution from cars, trucks, etc. There is a very noticeable difference in how fresh the air smells. It is also much quieter – not much noise pollution

Also, the skies seem a lot clearer and the stars a lot brighter.

Um, yep, increased CO2 levels didn’t begin until the car was invented per NASA and basic scientific logic. I think that knowing how the greenhouse effect works and that it’s just as much a proved theory inas much as gravity. It’s important, because otherwise we won’t go back to more natural ways and change our ways which are polluting our lungs and bodies anyways if we don’t acknowledge the source. Also, because we do have a chance to change it. No more need for wars, it will go downhill if it’s not changed immediately.
