I have a smaller esophagus and throat because of an inherited condition so gas doesn’t rise so easily. If I sleep on my stomach, belches happen.

How would you know unless you were monitored. Never heard anyone mention it. Belching is just air trapped when you eat.

Oh, I dunno. Aren’t belching and burping the same thing? Not to gross anyone out, but I do remember once when I was little I’d started vomiting in my sleep and I was making little burps as it came up. At least as I slowly woke up while it was happening, that’s what I was doing.

Not to change the subject, but what about hiccuping? I get hiccups every single day, often before I get out of bed, but I never hiccup while asleep, as far as I know.

We do burp in our sleep, it leads to GERD. I’ve also worked many night shifts as an RN observing sleeping patients. With that said I’ve seen many more sleeping people then most, and I’ve never seen anyone sneeze while asleep. Not without first awaking.

maybe not an authentic belch, but I’d rather have that than gas that comes up with acid reflux during sleep because if yer breathin out thru nose when that happens it’s like sinuses got napalmed.

There’s a great scene in an obscure Julia Roberts moviewhere the great Gena Rowlands confronts the great Robert Duvall and will not let him pass through the frontdoor to their house and basically rips him a New one about his indiscretions (Something to Talk About)……The scene is close, In Close Ups as Rowlands’ characterbreaks down her life’s frustrations in her husband’s face!At one point the camera focuses on Duvall as he get’s this brutal tongue lashing and he doesn’t REACT AT ALL!!!Then she let’s go with "AND YOU FAHT IN YOUR SLEEP!!!!The twitch like reaction on Duvall’s face is PRICELESS!
