Annoying behaviors aside, Bernice does make a good point about curated content on social media.

But it Serves Luann RIGHT for calling Gunther, a guy that’s been there for her Many, MANY times when she needed a friend, a “dweeb!”

Hilarity ensues, Luann is annoyed because Bernice is 100% correct, Luann needs to be annoyed at herself. All in a piece.

There is no magic formula. Remember that Bets striked out with Leslie Knox who faked his profile, before striking gold with Gunther. Bets is the lucky one. Luann needs To circulate and meet new people at the Fuse.

Bernie is the ultimate best friend. She doesn’t get upset with Luann’s words or her behavior or what she says. She simply put up a mirror to her with words. Luann needs a dose of truth and Bernie gives it to her. That’ her job. What is the point of a best friend if she only coddles and babies her best friend? Luann depends on her and knows she is there for her. My question is: Is this a one-way street bestfriendhood? Have we ever seen Luann be there for Bernie? During the Zane arc, Bernie did not turn to Luann. Interesting. What does Bernie get out of their relationship? Is Luann like a radio that she listens to? Is Luann the only excitement she gets through her talks? If that is the case, lord, Bernie, go find another best friend who will be there for YOU. Seems Dez is not the one. Find somebody, Bernie.

You gotta love Bernice. She’s witty, booksmart and doesn’t shy out of telling it to Luann like it is (envy doesn’t suit well to Luann’s looks, btw). Go, Bernice! You go, girl!

Hey Luann, if you wanted Gunther to love you like he loves Bets, maybe you shouldn’t have made him play 2nd fiddle to the other boys you tried to pretend to be with. You shouldn’t have tried to compete with Tiffany to see who could have the most boyfriends.

Better watch out, Bern – with the look on Puddle’s face, you might be the next installment in the “Weekend At Bernie’s” saga.

I like Bernice’s dry remark about “curated photos”. Now, if only people could take and then post an appealing photo of their taco…

Lol. This is a plain funny strip today. A well-laid-out gag, and effective, amusing accompanying imagery. No need for psychoanalysis or insults, guys.

Her smugness aside, Bernice is right.

I think Luann is waiting for Aaron; maybe not “THE”, but someone she sees as perfect.

All is not well in the State of Denmark with Bets and Gun remember. Luann perceives they are a perfect fit but Gunther is struggling with Bets’ social media obsession. Clouds on the horizon.

But Luann is jealous of Gunther. She is not much of a friend.

Everything you see on social media sites is portrayed to be perfect, always wonderful. You would think everyone else has an ideal life, making you think less of yours. It’s all staged, embellished, and just ain’t so. No one ever posts their dirty laundry.

Buts is Bets actually ideal? Luann is projecting that opinion. Gunther is finding her obsession with social media a pain in the rear.

There aren’t many Gunthers or Jacks in this world and Luann just doesn’t get it. Her world is all fantasy. it’s amazing that Bernice hangs out with someone so shallow

Luann: Whine, whine, whine!

Bernice: Annoyed, and translates Luann’s whines to what they really mean.

Luann: Annoyed, because Bernice spoke truth to Luann’s whining, instead of sympathizing.

I think Luann’s envy is normal to have. And Berbice is still right AND annoying. I love those two.

Bernice is Luann’s Jiminy Cricket. The reason some don’t like her is that she is usually spot on with her observations; if a little blunt.

Even puddles got annoyed… but Bernice is right. (hence her smug smile)

Like many girls, they spend all their time looking for Mr perfect and not for Mr Good. Bets Found Mr Good because she was tired of looking for Mr Perfect. and she is finding out Mr Good is her Mr Perfect.

Luann the problem is you & your expectations. As for Gunther you did not want him, you put him down even though he has been a better friend than you deserve, and you tried to sabotage his first date with Bets by hanging all over him right in front of Bets. If you can’t have it, even if you don’t want it, you don’t want anyone else to have it. Like a dog. Maybe Puddles is annoyed because you are insulting another if his species.

I never had a sister or best friend growing up, but do have one as an adult. True friends don’t sugar coat the truth and aren’t expected to do that. And it goes both ways. Luann and Bernice have been pals since grade school. I don’t take Bernice’s comments as snarky. They’ve had these discussions before. Luann seems stuck in a rut though. I like Bernice’s little smile, not a smirk. She’s not lecturing, just pointing out the obvious to her pal.

Bernice is using a fairly direct approach, something some are offended by and some of us appreciate.To me there’s no foul there. Where the foul is is that both of these ladies have failed to confront (as shown to us) their interests in relationships. Luann friendzones any guy who might be good for her and chases her willo-wisp idea of a guy. Bernice is no better as last seen pining over Piro. Pick a course, move out and worry about change as you need to. If you’re happy without a guy, call the card and move past the point until something changes. If you want a relationship take the time to look at what you know about yourself and what you enjoy and you want someone else to enjoy with you. Chasing a willo-wisp as both have is a fools mission, same as every guy who’s wanted a model or gal who’s wanted a hunk just because Hollywood showed it to you.

Yes, Bernice IS annoying. A simple “Luann, please keep those thoughts to yourself” would have been both sufficient, and waaaaay more kind. Bernice might as well be constantly commenting about every bite of food that a weight challenged friend eats. Unless you were invited into such a dialog, Bernice, BUTT OUT!

Don’t be such a downer, Luann. You’ll meet the right guy someday.

I know the comic strip is “Luann”, but for once can’t she do something, anything, interesting or controversial?

Bernice is studying to be a counselor, I think. He job will be to analyze people and make observations about them to help them. She is showing brillaint observational capabilities in this arc. Of course Luann doesn’t like them, because they are spot on. Bernie may indeed become Dr. Halper if she keeps up her studying and analysis of dysfunctional people.

I think she’s funny.

Let Me remind everyone of something. The reason WHY Gunther has a Hot Girlfriend and now has Zillions of followers on Social Media is thanks in no small part to Luann’s uploading Gunny profile to Date Pics last year. Yeah, Yeah, Gunther could have deleted his profile later, but “the horses were already out of the gate” by then, as several ladies, INCLUDING Bets, were already interested.

And ANOTHER thing, and this is VERY Important. It was Luann that wrote Gunther’s GLOWING Profile for Gunny’s Date-Pics Bio. THAT, is what got Liz, Vixen and Bets, INTERESTED. So Gunther’s “success” is partly Luann’s doing.

And count me among those that think that Luann has some feelings for Gunther, and all this whining is a mixture of Envy and Jealously. I honestly didn’t think Lu was deliberately trying to sabotage Gunny’s date with Bets last year. NOW, I’m not so sure.

The question is now, WHAT does Luann do about her current plight? Well she could:

1) Throw herself at Jack’s feet.

2) Start Hanging with Tara. Hey, if its okay for Gunther to get "pushed out his “comfort zone,” then why not Luann?

3) Make peace with Bets and start hanging out with them and attending Cosplay events with them in costume. (And make sure Bets uploads the Pics)

4) Keep trying on Date Pics.

5) Date Les.

6) Do nothing and keep whining in her bedroom.

7) All of the above.

I was a little hard on Bets last week. I’ll admit I was wrong. But as I thought about it, Bets would have a GREAT career working in a Public Relations Firm or an Advertising Agency after she graduates. She’s already put Gunther on the Map!

PS: I’m hoping Luann picks #3. But if all else fails, she could start dating T.A. Howie! ;)

I wonder how Luann will react when she finds out Gunther didn’t enjoy his time there because he didn’t like getting mobbed by people all the time and his girlfriend was too busy focusing on her phone to realize that.

When Bernice says something like that to a real patient/client, they’re going to jack her jaw up for her.

Social media platforms are designed for persons like Luann who crave admiration and validation (it’s a drug; she can’t stay away from it even when it’s not about her, though she would like it to be). Ironically, it is Gunther, who doesn’t care one way or the other, who finds himself thrust into it, getting the media attention that he never asked for. Since Pitt, every main character is getting a taste of something they did not expect, want or plan for. I think that’s what G&K want. Sure Luann has been on lots of dates but she’s overly picky and doesn’t accept what is before her. She’s still in some adolescent fantasy land waiting for the perfect prince; but only real people exist. I believe Doug got up and left on their first meet-up, in part, because Luann wasn’t contributing anything to the conversation; it appeared that she was just sitting there dumbstruck. He may have seen it as too much of an uphill climb. The mere fact that Luann had to have someone like Jack standing by ready to “save” her, even though she was in the Fuse surrounded by persons who know her was the red flag. She spent more time choreographing her escape than trying to get to know Doug. Gunther (shy ""dweeb") didn’t require such supervision. In some ways Luann is reaping what she sows.

Gunther is not in a relationship, he is merely a prop for the pictures. I wonder when he will catch on to this.

My beloved Bernice is good for many things. Add helping my beloved Luann focus her annoyance to the list.

Bernice is the kind of friend that makes you welcome your enemies. Her smugness and “better than you will ever be” attitude is not something I would tolerate in my circles.

Bernice sounds more like Spock to me.

Even Puddles is annoyed at Bernice. Good doggie.

Ah! There’s that word I mentioned in my comment yesterday: LUCK. While there is certainly some luck involved in finding someone special to you, Luann thinks it’s ALL about luck and she is simply unlucky. It probably doesn’t even occur to her to look within and try to consider what best works for her and what doesn’t and (here’s the important part) ACT on what she discovers. Bernice is trying to be helpful here. Terse, but helpful. Now that she has Luann’s attention, perhaps she can really help. We’ll see as the week progresses. It would be nice to see Luann progress a bit as a person/character, but I’m not holding my breath. It would also be nice to see “Puddles” no longer drawn so ridiculously, but I digress. What age is Luann supposed to be at this point? 18 or 19 maybe?

I don’t find Bets to be 100% ideal. At least to me, her desire to make everything public would be overwhelming. I prefer that the only ones who know about my private life are the NSA and FBI, and maybe Facebook’s and Google’s algorythms.
