Let’s be clear. This comic is the typical left straw man. The real argument is not against immigration, it’s against letting people skip the process and just come right on in. All the first generation immigrants I know and work with are not happy that the far left wants to open the borders. Used to be the Democratic Party I was a part of wanted to protect American worker’s jobs, and was against illegal immigration, while the republicans used them for cheap labor. Now the focus of the left is having as many people dependent on government help as possible, because they will vote democratic. One unintended consequence of this policy result is driving the Hispanic population who work hard and follow the rules to highly resent this, and vote Republican. The democrats are surprised by the percentage of Hispanics voting republican (somewhere around 30% iirc) because they cant seem to understand this.

If we identified half the illegal immigrants here and simply issued them Social Security cards and work permits the economy would expand significantly and tax revenue would follow. And ending an exploitative underground economy that depresses wages for everyone else would definitely work to raise wages across the board.

And don’t forget their immigrant great-grandfather, who set the tone for the family with his series of cathouses.

When will they hold the business owners accountable for hiring illegal workers? I guess they can’t find them as they are too busy counting their $ in the back. Everyone who gets their lawns attended to around here, has their roof worked on, or gets waited on for fast food, or has seen workers in nursing homes, etc., has seen an almost all immigrant work force. This is not because citizens want those jobs, it is because US citizens don’t want those jobs.

Yes, the Trump family didn’t exactly come over on the Mayflower or have Native American blood, so it seems that much more ironic that they have been targeting immigrants. One also has to question how Melania made it into the US on the Einstein visa, usually for doctors and scientists type people. What is her special skill? We recently saw an immigrant from India, KU prof, PhD in Chemistry, had raised a family here for a couple decades and he was detained and deported for a short time. There was a public outcry and he was brought back. Obama enforced the border, but he didn’t make people go back who were not criminal, nor did he separate families unless there was a dire situation in which it could not be avoided. It was not done routinely.

The simple truth is that our government supports black market labor. Because it’s good for those funding our politicians.

Illegal immigrants have always been a hot topic issue and people have known of it for decades. I strikes me that people who want to pick a fight just use the single word ‘immigrant’ to widen the impact and poke the wound. There are no high roads in this apparently.

There has never been a time when immigration (both legal and otherwise) was not a major issue worldwide. Those major corporate political donors who claim to be against immigration in the US are the ones most benefiting from the fact that they can pay undocumented workers the low salaries that US residents could not survive on, and meanwhile these corporate bigshots claim they would hire US citizens, but none will apply for the jobs. The Central FL region shows why. US citizens working in theme parks have two and three jobs (as do teachers, firefighters and nurses/nurse assistants) in order to be able to afford housing. And usually they can afford housing only by doubling up. Central FL leads the nation in lacking affordable housing for its underpaid US resident workforce.

Most of the Weasel’s properties seem to have a large population of immigrants until the occasional ICE raid occurs. Then the Weasel’s Human Resources Department restocks the staffs with new illegal aliens. Keeps labor costs low.
