I wanted to let everyone know my first foster cat was adopted yesterday. The shelter cats page on BCN gave me the push I needed to start fostering. This little guy was saved from being put down and brought into my home where I took care of him until a good family came to adopt him. Now he has a kitty sibling to play with because he has a lot of energy. Thank you! Let’s hope it works out!

I love this one! An only cat might totally ignore a new toy, but a clowder of cats will try to dominate the toy and each other. By the time the contest is over, I predict the fluffy fish won’t be so fluffy any more! However, the bite and scratch marks on it will make it singularly unique fur sure!

For those interested, I’ve been working on the story I’m writing. I’m trying something with the prologue. Here is a link to a comparison of the original prologue to the new version (the new version allows me to include one of the parts from the bonus material).

Not the Sunday strip I was expecting, but one I’m glad to see! That third panel…tells the whole story, really. Such cute little sits, too.

I’ve bought any number of cat toys for my boys and for my mom’s twin Siamese. So far the big winners are 1) a piece of mesh from the tail of one of the toy mice (but not the mouse); 2) various cardboard boxes; 3) the string on my laundry bag; 4) that one toy moth/bug that the twins can’t get enough of (it’s dog-chew-toy-level gross, but we don’t dare replace it); 5) bottle caps.

    Cats.

When Reboot was just a kitten he went in the bathroom and managed to pry a plastic cover off a bolt on the toilet and proceeded to play hockey with it for over an hour… in the middle of the night. My husband just looked over at me and asked, “Is he going to do that all night every night?”

I said, “Probably.” So he shooed Reboot out of the bathroom and closed the door. Then Reboot found the garbage.

SUNDAY FUNDAY!!!! Ok, the Mega-Orb gives so much, I’d like to give back to the Orb, but of course, I can’t do it alone. Since soon we will no longer need a spoiler zone, I think if we had a designated spot each week for folks to share something fun, great news, a funny story, a joke, anything. This is not to prescribe that this is the only place or time to do it, if you have great news or something to share at anytime, by all means DO so!

Research has shown that if you regulary journal about what makes you happy, or what you’re grateful for, these things tend to increase in your life. Part of that is that when you look for it, you see it, it registers more deeply, and if you share it, it enlivens us all!!! I look forward to our Mega-Orb community everyday, but I would love to have a place I could go to look for a bunch of uplifting, funny, happy news.

Should we try it?!! Just like the spoiler zone, whoever thinks of it first on a Sunday should start it, even if you don’t have something to share!!!

Twig loves playing bathroom hockey with anything she can get her paws on! Till it slides under the linen closet door. Then she gets up and steals a Qtip from the jar and hassles that, when that is done we dive under the rug and roll it up so mommy trips over it in the morning.

OT: Nushi update – I think has Nushi has stopped getting worse, but she peed on her insulated cat mat this morning, something she hasn’t done since she started getting better on 6/10. She’s still much more wobbly than she was a week ago, but her appetite, voice and purr remain strong. She did jump on the chair to the table where I give her the shot (because the super yummy food is there!), and yesterday she just looked at me and I had to pick her up, so I’m hoping that’s a good sign. Shot #3 today at the higher dosage (and dose)! Shot went as well as it can. Thank goodness.

I was on BCN several times yesterday. I had to keep coming back to calm myself. Thank you for providing that and for everything else. That was one of the reasons I decided to try and launch Sunday Funday! I hope you like the idea! I’m coughing less every day and sleeping through the night without having to take some nasty cold meds.

Thanks again for all you do!!!! ((((((((((((((Mega-Orb & Team Nushi)))))))))))))) Shirin

Good morning all. I come asking for prayers, etc, I went for my routine bi-annual eye exam, knowing that I needed a new prescription for my glasses. What I didn’t expect was being told that I have macular degeneration. He said we found it early, and it didn’t mean that I would definitely lose my sight, but I’m still a little scared. He told me to get some macular vitamins & I see him again in a couple of weeks for another “darkness” test and will see him every 6 months. If anyone has had any experience, good or bad, suggestions for treatments or any other advice, I’d love to hear from you. Also, please pray that the insurance covers all of this. I’m so grateful that I have you all to come to! thanks, and have a great Sunday! Has anyone heard from Shaunnmunn??

My late cat Fritz’s favorite thing was plastic forks and spoons. They were light enough that he could give them a good whack and it would go flying across the floor straight into the sea of legs from my kitchen table, where it would bounce off in crazy directions for a wild game of floor hockey. He would amuse himself for HOURS doing this. He was also a cat who played fetch! Fritz was a very very good boy. It’s been many years but I still miss him.

The three toys only seem identical to a human. The cats know that one was stitched together by a factory seamstress who’d just returned from a lunch of ham and sardines.

That’s exactly what cats do. Even though each of them has been given the same food and same quantity of food, they don’t touch that and go for another’s pile of food.

I always liked Puck because he was the sane, normal one. Now my world view is destroyed! All cats are insane! At least at some point or another. Kinda sorta like people. Now my world view is really destroyed.

Thank you to everyone who commented to my earlier post. I’m sorry if it was a little awkward. I stayed up late so I could be the first one to post and by then I was very tired.

My former foster has a lot of energy. He’s about a year old and would get the zoomies several times a day. His new family has three other cats including one about his age. Seeing him go was very hard. He was very easy to love and loves everyone he meets. It’s a happy coincidence BCN just finished the story arc about a foster getting adopted. He’s only been with me a few weeks (I got him on June 11) and it’s amazing how quickly you can get attached.

I wonder if my permanent cat (a foster failure from 10 years ago) misses him. They never really got along but she’s been asking to be held several times since I got home. (Or maybe she wants to make up for lost time.)

Thanks again. I’m always going to worry about him and wonder about his life, but that’s part of fostering I guess.

My kitten ’s favorite toy is a piece of dry dog food. Huge (to him) and always available in the dog dish. He will play with a piece until he kills it or I step on it. Then back to the inexhaustible supply for another toy.

OH MY CAT! I just realized that Jasper had that fish toy—for a minute at least. I even have a picture of him playing with it! I didn’t buy it for him. I had a BFF who lived out of state. (We first became friends when I was 3 and she was 5.) When she would send me a birthday or Chistmas present, she’d always include a toy for Jasper. I took a picture of him playing with it to include in my thank you card! I changed my avatar, though I fear you can’t really see the details in such a small orb!

Jasper crossed the bridge exactly two months before she did. (2016 was not a good year.) I hope he was there to meet her and that she is watching over him until the time when I can join them both.

My friend bought our cats a toy mouse, which was much loved and beaten up until it became a scraggy ball of fuzz with an unraveled sisal tail. I bought an identical replacement which remained pristine and ignored for months.

thank you everyone for your advice, good thoughts, prayers, boops, etc. i have been reading up on the subject of MD and with your input i’m MUCH calmer and not so scared that i’ll lose my sight. the dr suggested blue blocking screens for my pc at work and laptop or get transition lenses. THinking the lenses will kill 2 birds with 1 stone as I have never really worn sunglasses, only driving when the sun’s in my eyes. Of course I have to lose weight and exercise so i don’t become diabetic (i’m pre diabetes now). I started the lutein and fish oil today, & now i get to go shopping for a hat, perhaps one like the Ladies wear at the Kentucky Derby, or, more likely, an Indiana Lupin hat!! I love you all and am so grateful to this family of ours for the support, and love you all so freely give.

My current diva won’t deign to lower herself to PLAY. But cats in my past, yeah, so this. If you get them each a unique toy, both are unacceptable. Get them matching toys ONE is what both want (or the bag it came in). Otherwise, the only toy they want is the one the other has.

I have had macular degeneration since I was 44, now 62. Do the reading, take the AREDS vits and start wearing sunglasses. Don’t panic. I had photodynamic threapy twice which got it to stop getting worse. Photodynamic is still available, but is no longer the first choice of therapy. Depending where the blood is on your macula, you may not need other therapy yet. Find the best retina person you can who may not be the doctor you are seeing now; or go to a teaching hospital if you have to, they have the latest techniques.
