Elvis, you are a much better reporter than groomer!

We’re entering the second day of blank pages on the original BCB site. Is it going to be fixed. I know that most of the comics are available here, but there are a couple of specials that are not. Please, Georgia, let us know what’s going on!

Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair.

I think the Man looks really nice with groomed hair.

Burt has really outdone himself today!

My sister sent me a short video of her kitty rearranging her hair to his satisfaction. She had just had it done. He was running his paws through it and licking the top of her head. He is one nutty kitty!

Reading Biskits sad post brings back memories of our most recent loss. I want to share something that is sad but may be of help to any of you who are in a similar situation.

When Kelpie let us know it was time to let go I remembered from my teens that my girlfriend’s father was a doctor. When it was time for their old cat to go, he brought home a hypo of major sedative and put her to sleep at home in his arms, with the family all present. It was devastating.

But it was GOOD. Because it was at home. It was comfortable. It was familiar. When Kelpie gave us the message I scrambled to find a solution that didn’t involve stuffing her in a carrier and taking her to the hated vets office. I couldn’t bring myself to shoot her. That would have been awful. I researched the CO2 method and found it to be too chancy.

But I discovered that there are services that offer in home euthanasia. The vet comes to your home with the drugs required to handle a painless end. I cannot praise this enough. The cost is not much higher than going to the office and the entire event is so much….not better, but bearable.

Keep it in mind for the future. It takes some of the stress away for you, but far more important, it eliminates the stress for puss or pup. They pass at home, quietly, without the nasty trip to the vets office.

I hope I haven’t upset any of you but I had to share it. For you, for me, for our friends who live in our homes and lives.

Anyone else enjoy yesterday’s incredible weather in or near northern Indiana?

It was WONDERFUL! We explored our Amish areas without the huge crowds that flock in the other seasons. Didn’t want the day to end. And what gorgeous sunsets! Topped out at 50F!

Must make it up to Dusty today. We’ll let him have more (supervised) outies as long as the weather holds.

Wonderfully relaxing! I do hope others in my neck of the woods could get out & have fun!

One of my cats, Olivia, likes to “groom” my hair after I’ve had it cut, just like Elvis is doing. I’ve had a lot of cats over the years and she’s the only one I’ve ever seen do this

Two of ours like to groom my beard.

Yes, we had that when our Artemis was terminal (diabetes) – I found a vet who would come to our house to euthanize her; it was horribly sad, but as you say good as well because she wasn’t scared or upset. Unfortunately, that vet no longer works in the field and when The Grey Mouser’s time was up this past October, we had to bring her in to the vet for the same procedure. That wasn’t as bad as some kitty deaths that I’ve experienced because the vet gave her a sedative that took around 10 minutes to take effect so we had time to say goodbye before the vet came back to give her the lethal injection. Again, very sad but we knew it was the right thing to do….

Love Elvis’ “Who did that to you?” I had a cat many years ago that moved in with me and a roommate that was very allergic to fleas. I had to shave her at first and she didn’t really like it but trusted me if I did things just right. Clippers make funny noises you know. Well one day I came home and my roommate (female) had no hair in one streak on one side of her head. I knew instantly what had happened. She tried to shave the cat like I told her not to do. So I mustered all the nonchalance I could and said,“I hope you didn’t pay for that haircut!” Needless to say I collapsed into gails of laughter after that.

People suffer from the lack of a tail.

It is back up, and that is no random act—my dear friend Hollis Potter went into the site, found the bugs, chased them down, and worked them out. While the GoComics site is always there, the original site still means a lot to many of the readers who have been here from the beginning (and some who have found us along the way). There is a lot of shared history in those early comment threads.Some of Burt’s computer tech skills when something goes askew are based upon Hollis’ curiousity and patience and bemused tech wizardry when it comes to the sites he has built since we were kids. And now he also does this professionally in his career, but just lent a hand today out of kindness and I’m so grateful. (Funny enough, he knows the real Burt in real life too).I cannot thank him enough for helping to fix this, and I wanted you all to know who we owe the site being back up to!
