I always kept that possibility in mind, Jonah showing up at the last second. I was figuring that Jonah would be the one chagrined if Brad stepped up, but now it appears the other way around. The debate about what happens to Shannon however will not cease, but only be drawn out, with all those ripples that I keep mentioning. Stay tuned!!

I think Brad looks P.O.ed because Jonah stole his line (“Let’s DUO”). Anyway, I was sure that Jonah would show up because Shannon told us he always makes it to his shows. And it’s great to see them (J and S) share a lovely moment with the crown. They are clearly a family, no matter how much some folks want Toni and Brad to adopt S. Like Toni would be gaga over that!

Shannon is genuinely happy to be a duo with her Dad, whom she loves. Now she will go on stage with someone who will actually play the guitar, not air guitar, so folks won’t laugh . This should be a classic case of “all’s well that ends well,” yet Brad glares at Jonah for showing up. Is that because he really wanted to be Shannon’s hero here? As a professional firefighter, Brad, you should know that you help people because they need help, not to win accolades. I’m sure Brad will let us know what’s on his mind, soon enough…

Despite Jonah’s style of ‘parenting’, I hope that Toni and Brad don’t try to adopt Shannon over any objections from Jonah. That kind of thing leaves a lot of damage in a family. They should only offer to adopt her if Jonah wants to give her up. Clearly, Shannon loves her Dad in spite of his faults…

I doubt that a professional actor considers playing “It’s a Smalll World” on a guitar to be much of a “performance”. If he were doing this for personal reasons, he wouldn’t have brought the tiara to Shannon. Sure, he enjoys being on stage, but this is in fact a “duo”. After all, he could have signed up to do a solo act, but he didn’t.

6It is mildly surprising that Jonah showed up, but he is still very much a damn “flake” in my opinion. That said, however:1. It is very much in keeping with his personality that he shows up at the very last moment. Think about this, he is lucky that Shannon’s act was the LAST act of thirty-some acts. He technically is still VERY late. He just skirted under the wire in regards to being there.2. Jonah undoubtedly has a cell phone. His apparent lack of calling Toni to let her know that he is on his way just shows again his damn “flake” persona. 3. Jonah’s “without a care” attitude about things should in my opinion be very grating for BOTH Brad and Toni…. they both had to stress out and try to figure out ways to make the situation become “ok” for Shannon presuming Jonah did not show up. I can fully understand Brad’s annoyance…. not because he necessarily wanted to perform…. he was doing that only for Shannon…. but because he had to experience the stress of overcoming his own reluctance to be on stage because he cared for Shannon…. and it was in many ways “all for nothing” as the damn “flake” shows up at the last possible moment. Now, with that said… I am very glad for Shannon…. she actually received three gifts without even perhaps realizing it. 1) Her Dad DID show up and is going to perform with her, 2) Even though she may be too young to fully perceive it, she also now has further affirmation about Brad caring a lot for her, and 3) Even though she may not fully perceive this either, she also experienced a caring experience from Toni, Pru, and several others as well. When the confrontation of Jonah occurs by whichever mix of characters does the confrontation, I still very sincerely hope that it is out of eye and earshot of Shannon. She DOES NOT need to experience that sort of conflict.

But at least he did show up in (the nick of) time, so I’ll give him credit for that. ^^^^^the others may have kept bouncing Shannon’s act back in the order to give Jonah a chance to show up. So without so much as a text to reasssure everyone he gets to show up as ‘super-Daddy’ and the Tiara is his bribe. His daughter is just so glad he showed up that of course she forgives all the drama. Don’t look for Jonah to get a fair shake from Brad.; not for anything he’s actually done, but because Toni has “poisoned the well” as they say in psychology (ex. “don’t trust this guy that just came in, everything he says is a lie.” ). That is to say, she’s molded Bradley ‘s opinion of her brother when he wasn’t around to defend himself, and like a rumor, it’s been spread around by Chub Boy without any investigation; kind of like his libel of his own best friend, TJ when the food truck exploded.Yes, we’ve (sorta) seen an example of Jonah ‘s poor stagecraft, but hey, theater companies don’t hire good actors, do they? Couldn’t be he was having a bad day for some reason, had his timing thrown off by another actor or anything like that.Instead, what I saw was everyone kow-towing to Toni ‘s opinion and not daring to oppose her. Even Quill! was caught up in it, and you would think he’d be able to see things ‘theater’ from a more sympathetic angle.Team Evans hasn’t given us any kind of backstory to explain why Jonah chose a profession where he gets out of himself and ended up married at an early age, or why Toni got into a (possibly more) abusive relationship. Maybe Toni is jealous of her brother’s indpendance, or else afraid he’ll end up in another dead-end marriage. As to the current situation, everyone here acts as if technical problems with a cell phone, or a potential employer who requires them to be turned off, doesn’t occur.

-See, this is the problem in a nutshell. Any parent who works (whether at a 9 to 5 job or going on calls to possible gigs), and who has a child, needs to make more permanent child care arrangements. Whatever those arrangements are, they can’t be last minute. This is the reality of responsible parenting. Not that you stay home and don’t work, but that you recognize that most of the day will be either work, or looking for work, so you make permanent arrangements. And that can’t be just assuming that a relative who also has a job will always be available.

To give Jonah the benefit of the doubt, he did keep Shannon when her mother abandoned them, so she is more than just a tax deduction. But, he probably has no future in acting and eventually will get a real job to support them both. Shannon will become a day-care child.

I still wish someone would explain to me why they think Tiffany would even try to ‘straighten out’ Jonah. I don’t think the two of them even know each other, first off. Secondly, although Tiffany was very nice to Shannon and put that make up on her to cheer her up, Tiffany admitted at her after school job that she really isn’t that interested in kids. So, although she may understand what Shannon might be feeling, I’m not sure why she would feel motivated to ‘fix’ Jonah as a parent. It just doesn’t feel like something she would think of doing…

Again, we don’t know the backstory on the Halloween party. Maybe the local theatrical community hosts a Halloween party every year, because that’s the sort of thing that theater people do, and Jonah doesn’t want to risk not attending, since he needs professionally to be though of as one of that crowd. It’s an inappropriate environment for Shannon (think “Rocky Horror”!), and teenage babysitters are impossible to find on Halloween, so he takes her but leaves her locked in a bedroom. Certainly not good parenting, but the sort of thing that single parents may sometimes feel is the best of a bad situation.Am I making this up? Of course I am, but so are the people who assume that Jonah is a selfish jerk who just wanted to party and have a good time. Since back stories are definitely not a strong part of Luann, everyone has to resort to their own provate fan fiction to explain what’s going on.

Okay, i do NOT know if this is accurate, and certainly it is out of date, but it says the check the following timeframes:“First Appearance: 1/8/1996” (i am personally leaning to that one being a lookalike rather than Shannon D.)" reappeared as Toni’s cousin according to script of 2008, but in June 2010 it was established that Toni’s brother is her father, and thus Toni’s niece."http://luanncomicstrip.wikia.com/wiki/Shannon_Lewis/DaytonaBTW, unless i find something which firmly supports the alternative i am personally inclined to think of Lindy’s cousin as merely being a lookalike because Shannon would have to have gotten a few years younger (about 6 to about 4) at the same time that Luann aged from 13 to 16, sooooooo… I think it is like Luis’s visage having been used again.

He met a girl and … Became a dad. He fathered a child. He’s never become a dad"Shannon was three or four in June of 2010. We know she is six now. Also, we learn that Toni and Jonah were raised by an aunt and moved to Pitts about seven years before now in Luanntime, so since Luann is 18 Shannon was born about a year before the strip starts IF my recollection of Luann being 13 at the start of the strip is correct.

I know now why i missed the party ref. In most of 2013 i had huge difficulty getting my eyes to focus together due to the worse eye going down to IOP 6 after things went wrong a few days after the filtration bleb was created in May of that year, resulting in an emergency surgery a few day after the initial surgery. So, it is possible thst i coukd not read comics at that time.

Really? Okay, try it this way and see whether it makes more sense: “She’d have remembered that her dad didn’t show up IF HER DAD HADN’T SHOWN UP.”
