Of course, time lines in a comic strip can be hard to determine, but if the meeting at the Fuse was simultaneous to the Luann-Bernice-Prudence gathering, then Friday’s strip should be a near repeat of Bernice’s arrival …

I see you did. Twisted minds think alike? Maybe you can help me with this: Nancy & Frank both have eyebrows on their faces, so how did Luann s end up on her hair?

Don’t forget, though,Nancy has good reason to “assume” that this would be Luann’s reaction. – First of all, Luann has had a history of “dramatic” moments. Secondly, Luann has had her share of heartache and pain, relationship wise.A Third thing is that Nancy and she did have a conversation previously, when they first considered Prudence’s boarding at the DeGroot house, so she would have reason to expect that this could be a realistic outcome. – Also of note, this situation (“Luann’s possible reaction”) is also what many had speculated would be the outcome for Frank and Nancy’s accepting Prudence as a boarder (per the strips from a couple of months ago). The difference now, of course, is that this time, Frank and Nancy are the ones thinking it, and don’t know what we now know to be the actual situation (per the dialogue from last week’s strips).

Now Pru will have to comfort Mom as well.. I actually think Luann is over it already. She now has a good read on Quill. He is like one of those prizes you "win"in the mail…

And, after Nancy gets her foot jammed all the way down her throat, Luann will say: “Hire Pru? That’s a great idea!”

Does no one in this world have a cellphone? Wouldn’t a normal person in this day and age, call and check up on Luann? How does her mom know where she will be? Is she a psychic, too? So many irritating questions…

Here we go again. When Bernice came charging in, LuAnn was crying on Pru’s shoulder. I wonder what the three of them will be doing when Nancy gets there? …………………………The funny thing is how Nancy and Bern were always ragging on Lu being a reactionary. I guess we see now where she gets it from.…………………………Ooh, I just realized; When the relationships started Nancy was warm to Quill. But cold to Toni (Frank was the opposite). Now Lu and Q (sorry) are splitsville. While Brad and Toni are engaged. Do you realize what this means? It means that (gasp) Frank was RIGHT!! Oh please, you ‘have’ to allow him a little gloating time.

Won’t Nancy be surprised to see the girls laughing and talking about NY when she arrives?

An afterthought: Just because Pru’s gay, doesn’t mean Quill wasn’t in love with her. Even though he knew it.

It will be interesting to see if Luann tells the truth or a lie.

Quill is being eased out. Les won’t hit on girls, but he will cause trouble at Fuse. He will either steal from the DeGroots, get busted serving booze to minors or something much worse. Les may have involvement with narcotic sales. The eyes are drawn too shifty for him to be a simple troubled youth.

Bernice and Nancy read the same book.

It is starting to seem that Luann is justified in feeling like “No one LISTENS to me!!” Not Quill, not Bernice, not her parents.

I’ll say it again: If a guy (or girl) is stupid enough to be “stolen” then they weren’t really all that into you, and you are better off without them.

Poor Prudence is now actually becoming a sympathetic, now likable victim here. First, Luann, herself, imagined a fantasy about Pru, then Bernice, now Nancy. Outside of Luannverse, these accusations most likely would drive Prudence away. Could it be a preview of the writing out of the strip of Prudence by G&K? Just as her character is developing?

So… what exactly does Quill do for a living? (And Puddles has been cloned!)

Greg really didn’t get this one right. Everyone mother knows the girls look more like their Dads and the boys like their Moms. In general anyway. Would love to see his rendering of this.

And Nancy is reacting much as any Mom would under the circumstances in questioning their own judgment/decisions and how it affected their daughter. Pru already knows she has been suspected of being the cause of the breakup so no big news there if Nancy barges in with that accusation.

I know who the star is but for some reason ever since the beard, Gunther has been my dude. I want to see some resolution with him and Tiffany. I actually like that match WAY more.

I am glad that the women I know in real life are not as reactionary about interpersonal relationships as Bernice and Nancy.

And how will Nancy react to the fact that Pru prefers the ladies?

Right now i am hoping that the people who mentioned distraction and upset as causes of accidents are not prognosticating correctly. Yes, 2D fictional, but the strip can echo some parts of real life.

Total agreement. But very few people seem to profit much from the experience of jumping to conclusions and then wiping the egg spatter off their faces. In short, very few are “sane” – ask a therapist.

This is clearly still a record of the events of a very dramatic Valentine’s Day..We are likely to have another week of it.All this arc.Hope it is not excessively drawn out.

Oh, in saying “and with age” i am referring to the opportunities for learning and for experiences which widen a person’s perceptions which happen over time.

[8}As I was snowed in yesterday, I could not comment. In regards to yesterday’s comic, I feel that Quill’s words again show (to me, anyhow) that Quill was really doing much of the work he was engaged in at The Fuse as a way to help out the DeGroots, including Luann. This (again, to me, highlights that I think he sincerely felt he was not the “ogre” many have suggested in terms of the relationship. He did care, he did try, and he did work that I believe he thought demonstrated his care about the relationship. Onto today….. I hope that Nancy does not continue to beat herself up about what she is feeling guilty about. Hopefully she will hear and see that Luann broke off the relationship and that even though Luann thought Pru was in part to blame (at least Pru’s presence fueled Luann’s anger initially). that Pru was in no way to blame.I also hope that this story doesn’t go tragic. I am slightly concerned that with the distracted nature of Nancy’s thoughts at the moment, that she is potentially at risk for getting into an automobile accident. I hope not, and I hope the story does not venture in that direction.Finally, as a parent, I can very well understand Nancy’s angst at the moment. Even if logically I know that my actions in some regard were correct and appropriate, if one of my kids is distraught, even if not my fault…. I feel guilty and worried as hell. I can very much understand how much worry Nancy is feeling.

Wonder if Nancy will bust in all “Miami Vice” like, to let Prudence have it, or if it’ll be the “Michael Scott/Office/Apprentice” route, and have her blurt out: “You’re fired!”, all in a comedic bout of mistimed exchange, sort of what like the way some were saying when Bernice charged in the room?

There’s probably also shades of Jeff Lynne, with “Evil Woman”…

I like the Indy cars and NASCAR but every once in a while a driver can’t “get into gear” and returns to the pit. That’s how I feel about these story lines. The continuity seems out of synch.

He and Luann simply drifted apart.” is of course very accurate. But, Nancy has no knowledge of that. But, oldcomicsfan does make an excellent point IMO… no one is “stolen” in a relationship. If Pru had “stolen” Quill away, Luann should have thanked Pru for showing the “stolen Quill” to be a shady, nasty sort.

They are NOTHING alike: GE produces an interesting, well drawn, intelligent comic strip, LJ puts out FBOW.

FBOFW had it’s moments … but what’s going on now is just sad. She should have let the strip end instead of going into re-hash mode.

-Why the comparison with ‘FBOFW’? Even though both are about families, the viewpoint characters are different.

Considering the pace of this strip it’ll take Nancy a week to drive home.

Somehow, given its drama as opposed to humor, I still think the Luann strip is fun There a few sour notes like Les and TJ, but I have a few favorites, too, like Knute, Crystal, Tiffany, Gunther and the hot MIA Rosa, The comments are usually interesting, although some folks tend to be a bit wordy.

We already went through this with Bernice. Something new, please.

Once Nancy completes her Guilt Trip back to home, will Pru become its innocent victim? (That would be an easy way to write Pru out of the continuity….)
