" Making fun of fat people is called “Fat Shaming” and is now forbidden.".The multi-billion diet and weight loss industrial empire would love for you to believe (that “fat shaming” is now “forbidden”)..Sadly, as Oprah Winfrey once pointed out, in our society, being fat is the last, perhaps only, remaining “unforgivable sin.”.Even sadder, even Oprah participated in discrimination against fat people. The successor show to Oprah was Doctor Oz, which is all dieting, all the time..And now, Oprah owns Weight Watchers!.No, my friends, fat shaming is far from “illegal” – just read many of the rest of the comments on this page!

The mayor of my home town, a small mid-western city, said the city was experiencing a diabetes epidemic. The type of diabetes was not mentioned but from what I see in the grocery store, I would bet ten pounds of corn dogs that it is type 2. The meat department is not the only place to find pork. There are two legged porkers roaming the aisles, some still able to walk, others squeezed into the seat of an electric wheel chair. The basket on the electric wheel chair is almost always filled with junk food. One mega blob of fat had only one leg. Fat shaming is merely un-P. C. while diabetes is nasty.

When I lived in Rome, we played a game at the tourists stops, trying to guess the nationalities of the folks who descended from the tour busses. Obviously, the ones with two cameras each were Japanese, and the fat ones era German. Nowadays, it might not be so easy to tell them from the Americans….

I live in a rural area of South TX & there’s farm road intersection near by — the kind where a local farmer sells citrus, a shrimp seller & misc other random vendors. Now a guy in a red Jeep is selling “Army Ammo” out of the back of his jeep. Perfectly legal apparently so long as buyer is over 18 & not drunk. Great for last minute Christmas gifts — grapefruit, shrimp & a case of ammo. :/

The whining and haranguing over this and yesterday’s cartoon is both amusing and disturbing. A well done cartoon may appear to be stating a point of view, but in fact is an artist simply being evocative. This is Wiley’s brilliance. Getting the reader/observer to think – and perhaps react. But to use it to launch into unrelated condemnations and critiques of the political left, right and everyone in between seems terribly misplaced, and sad statement on the time in which we live. We’re all in this life together. Take a deep breath. Smile at someone. Enjoy the Holidays.

Obesity, and malnutrition due to lousy diet is a long established American phenomenon, including all the drive through restaurants so you don’t have to move your posterior to add to its bulk, and you can run over kids in crosswalks while sucking down that juicy Carls Jr drippy burger.

As to the ammo, btw, as a liberal, gun owner, and well mostly Buddhist in philosophy, having 1,000 rounds of ammo when you own six rifles, two shotguns (for different hunting and target shooting), and three handguns of three different calibers, isn’t a lot to have around.

What Wiley HAS left out is that there probably is a bar on the other side of that sidewalk from the mobile servers, THAT would complete the American theme, well, maybe add in the church on the corner as well.

Wiley hits our culture accurately, day in and day out pretty much, and it’s the Trumpites, who back a pathological liar, who are most upset and either want to censor him, or ignore his truths that damage their self-esteem (If they think about reality it shouldn’t, they should just wake up!)

I drink a lot of water during the day at work. So when I hit the water cooler, I call it “refueling.” It is also good for weight loss. I make constant trips to the water cooler in the morning, and constant trips to the men’s room all afternoon.

In spite of the stereotypes you bigoted North Eastern libs like to impose, responsible gun owners, like CHL holders, never mix alcohol and firearms. I know in your incapable of grasping the fact that the vast majority of gun owners are law abiding and respectful people.

    -fat people

You, of course, are physically perfect, so there is nothing that a bully such as yourself could find fault with.

News flash. Those of us with diabetes in our family sometimes read medical info. Both Type I and Type II (and the newly identified combination) have genetic components, too. It’s not just about what you eat.

A rose by any other name might smell as sweet. Except when it doesn’t.

Once again, Riley assumes that eating meat makes people fat and paranoid.

I know more than one fat vegan and as many people who have lost weight following Atkins.

And I know more than one vegan who is a fantatic second amendment supporter.

-a recognition of why one-third of US citizens are obese or worse.

A recognition of why people are obese is identical to a recognition of why some people are drug addicts, some are alcoholics and some are nicotine addicts. Sugar is one of the most addictive substances around, and sucrose is one of the major ingredients in our foods.

I’m not talking simply about the natural sucrose or fructose that is part of food, but about the huge amount of high fructose corn syrup that has been added to everything in the US diet, including the diet of meat animals to fatten them up.

Scientists are finally getting through to regulators that all the addition of antibiotics to meat animals just to fatten them up has much more to do with antibiotic resistant bacteria than the fact that a few people persuaded a doctor to write them a script for an antibiotic they didn’t need. Maybe someday, regulators will listen to scientists who have been arguing against the massive addition of high fructose corn syrup to so many sectors of the US diet.

People have recognized that drug addiction is not just about a deplorable weakness and people should ‘snap out of it’. Bigots should recognize that sugar addiction is every bit as much of a trap as drug, nicotine and alcohol addiction, because sugar, drugs, nicotine and alcohol are all drugs and work on the pleasure centers of the brain the same way.

Shame on bigots who keep talking down to addicts.
