Until recently, I had problem with a robin doing his business, every morning, first on the driver’s side of my car, then hopping across the hood leaving a trail, then on to the passenger side. We were amazed that one bird could make such a mess. He was definitely an overachiever.
I’ve been around the block more than a few times myself. I, too, remember party lines. We had one at one time, but as soon as they could get a private line, my parents made the switch. Near the farm we lived on until I was 5 was a gas station/grocery store that had one of the old wooden phones you had to crank to get the operator that still worked but was no longer used, having switched to a rotary phone.
I had a similar experience as your granddaughter. My mother had a picture of me at 6 weeks old and one of my son at the same age. When placed together, they looked like the same person. People often asked where she got such an old-fashioned picture of her grandson and were surprised to find that one baby was the other baby’s mother taken 22 years apart. However, now that my son is grown, he looks just like his father.
I like it when doctors talk to each other. When I lived in Kentucky, each of my doctors would write a letter to the other doctors after my visits detailing treatment. It helped to coordinate treatment and prescriptions among them so there was no duplication. With most of them on the same system here in NC, it works out the same as in KY.
That is so true. The last time I renewed my driver’s license, they made me take my glasses off (something I’m never go without) before taking my picture. I looked exactly like my mother. It was rather eerie since Mom had passed away years before.
I live in a rural area in the mountains. Besides the trees, there’s a nearly 2000-ft hill in front of my house that protects the area from not only the worst a storm can throw at us but also from radio and television signals getting through. Cable has been our best choice.
