I never dug for worms. I used a sledgehammer. Constantly beat on the ground for five to ten minutes and they just crawl right out of the ground. Learned it from my grandmother.
A kid ate a slug on a dare. It had a parasite that ate everything worthwhile in his brain.https://www.newsweek.com/parasite-rat-lungworm-garden-slug-834667
About a year ago on one of our walks one of the doggos found a banana slug and inhaled it. After a phone consult with our vet my panic decreased. Pupper was as sick as a dog for a few days but everything worked out ok in the end. They all avoid banana, and other, slugs from now on. The chooks will slurp up any of those they find. The little ones at least. The banana slugs out here can get to about 10 or so inches long. What I found interesting is those in the SF Bay Area are bright yellow, like ripe bananas, but up here they are olive drab green with black splotches. Bright warning colour vs camouflage.
Yesterday I dared my brother to eat the whole blob of Wasabi with his sushi. It ended with both of us eating half. It wasn’t so bad swallowing my half whole, but afterwards my stomach threanted a revolt.

Hobbes idea of fun is a tuna fish sandwich with a pickle on the side.

Hobbes also likes surprising Calvin.

That’s a good way to eat a parasite and die

Totally with Hobbes here.

Gathering slugs and worms and not a word about sliding them down Susie Derkins’ dress? Blasphemy! ;D

Different ideas of fun, I guess.

Anyone who says toodle-oo must be too sophisticated, blue-blooded for slugs and worms.

An aristocrat like Hobbes would only eat trepang

I recall reading an article where a guy ate a garden slug on a dare. He had a violent reaction to it which cost him his life.

I had a kitten who tasted a slug. Never saw a cat make that face before or since. :)

Mmmm…slugs and worms sauteed in a butter/lemon sauce. Mmmm.

This is a… fun… storyline?

Hobbes would enjoy being Susie’s imaginary friend more than being Calvin’s. She would never dare him to eat gross stuff.

Oh, I’ve occasionally felt like Hobbes in the last panel in certain situations…

Salamanders and centipedes are better. Scorpions are scarce, but best of all.
