    Good morning™, everyone!

Admiral Byrd was, of course, the first person to fly directly over the South Pole, so the Ambassador almost gave away their location. Well, too late, we all know what it implies. They are in Antarctica.

    Good morning™, secret snowbirds !

OOPS ! I think Dick had a suspicion and was drawing Gassador out. If they are on their honor to look away from their windows he’d better be watching just to make sure.

Admiral Byrd also claimed to have been the first person to fly over the North Pole, as well, so, technically, I guess, Tracy just narrowed the location to two points on the globe. Apparently they flew all the way to wherever they went with the Earth out of sight as well, so Tracy couldn’t keep track of their journey. And also apparently in Tracy’s world, governments lack satellite technology that would discover a large community on either of the poles. Besides all that, this storyline is making perfect sense.

When I was in Hawaii many years ago, (1991?) for Father’s Day, my son and I went on a tour of one of the navy ships docked in Pearl Harbor. The seaman giving us the tour said that this ship was the first one to fire on the enemy in the Gulf War. Someone in the group asked what the target was and he replied that that was classified. After a few more questions were fielded, someone else asked: “How far were you from your target?” to which the guide replied: “We were 350 miles from Bag………dad” and looked very sheepish.

Richard E Byrd wrote 2 books about his exploration of the Antarctic : "Little America: and “Skyward”, as well as “Alone” where he chronicles his life there…

He was slowly being poisoned by a faulty stove pipe and had a monumental struggle to live in the remote Antarctic until he got better. He was awarded the Congressionsl Medal of Honor for his flight over the Arctic…

A d he added greatly to what we know about Antarctica…

Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but just the other day, I saw something on the news about China wanting to send its astronauts to the moon, and claim it as their own.

Anyone familiar with the stars would realize that they were in Antarctica – the Southern Cross, the Magellanic Clouds, the upside down moon – it’s not that hard to figure out.

Mentioning Admiral Byrd leads me to believe one of the poles but his claim to reaching the North Pole is highly disputed.

1-GOVADOR: Almost here. Now close your eyes tight and NO PEEKING.

2-DT: Mine been closed this whole trip because of your crazy flying. Also – I already peed. Same reason.

GOVADOR: I said no PEEKING ! DT: Oh. I can do that.

3-GOVADOR: Hey…where is everybody? They’re gone. THOSE BAST*RDS SENT ME ON THIS FOOLS ERRAND JUST SO THEY COULD MOVE AWAY WHILE…oh…wrong pole. OK. Open your eyes. We got a fly a bit longer. Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em. Oh. I’m gonna need gas money so pony up. Nobody rides for free. You know the old bumper sticker – GAS, GRASS OR A$$!

DT: I didn’t bring the first two so I guess I’ll drop tr…

    GOVADOR: NEVER MIND!

What’s the point of turning away during DESCENT?!?! Does this moron REALLY think nobody on board was watching where they were heading the entire time?

If this is any kind of hint as to how the rest of the story goes…..

If the Ambassador and his people want to stay off the radar (no pun intended) so be it. The world is not aware of them. If it was…in this era of short attention spans…they’d be on and off the scene in a New York minute.

Richard Evelyn Byrd Jr. (October 25, 1888 – March 11, 1957) was an American naval officer and explorer.1 He was a recipient of the Medal of Honor, the highest honor for valor given by the United States, and was a pioneering American aviator, polar explorer, and organizer of polar logistics. Aircraft flights in which he served as a navigator and expedition leader crossed the Atlantic Ocean, a segment of the Arctic Ocean, and a segment of the Antarctic Plateau. Byrd claimed that his expeditions had been the first to reach both the North Pole and the South Pole by air. His claim to have reached the North Pole is disputed.2 He is also known for discovering Mount Sidley, the largest dormant volcano in Antarctica.

Oops! Looks like you blew it, Ambassador, and realize it (panel 3). Otherwise, I can’t explain your facial expression, unless you know something terrible that we don’t, such as, this Space Coupe is gonna crash!

Meanwhile, maybe “New Moon Valley” has been built up foolishly close to Mt. Erebus, to take advantage of its volcanic power and heat. Could it be that Ambassador sees it newly erupting?… (Just a casual speculation, mostly for fun.)

I don’t recall if we’ve ever seen how sly the Ambassador ex-Governor is or isn’t; is he perhaps capable of, er, artful misdirection?
