I could present an argument that Nil Is in effect, using Bernice.

It seems that Bernice already miss the intimacy and romance. Dunno if she will agree to be his muse, but I’m glad Nil told her they can stop with the romance. Maybe she’ll miss him, she’ll understand what she really wants and stop being afraid of her feelings about him, maybe they’ll just become great friends. And now I wonder if a arc will begin in which Nil will try to help Bernice to get together with Jack, just for see her being more and more confused about herself and her wishes.

I was in hopes that Nil would see Bernice as his muse and now, he has made it public. Though, often, one’s muse can become one’s lover.

If all Nil wants is his soul fed, he can get a beautiful bonsai tree for like fifty bucks, and be happy for the rest of his life.
