Self-portrait: The artist feeling insecure, did not want to be compared to some of his models.

Darren realizes that he’s walked into the wrong painting

/// Eugène Jansson indulged in his yen

to paint young, naked, muscular men.

His self-portrait’s a sight;

clad in virginal white,

he’s backed up by a close friend (or ten).

/// Jansson dressed like a bit of a dandy.

His legs, hidden by pants, don’t look bandy.

Pants can also disguise,

(if they’re loose in the thighs),

that he happens to feel a bit randy.

/// As he stood there, two thoughts came across:

“Would my smile be enhanced by some gloss?”

And he hungered, as well,

for he thought he could smell

Swedish meat balls and warm creamy sauce.

Bordon was so very shy about his body he even felt uneasy not wearing any socks.

all Doyle heard was, “we may all be naked, but at least we aren’t wearing white after Labor Day”

/// There’s a detail that may be revealing,

of the painter’s odd upside-down feeling

(For, on careful inspection,

it is not a reflection.)

He has painted the pool on the ceiling!

Did you ever get that sinking feeling that you might just be overdressed?

/// Some have called his attire incomplete,

on account of his nearly bare feet.

But, in front of these jocks,

wearing sandals with socks

would have gotten him kicked to the street.

/// True, a stocking protects toes from dirt,

(as the torso’s kept clean by a shirt).

But he’d met with rejection

over wearing protection,

so some things, when he dresses, he’ll skirt.

“A man could make a small fortune here selling Manscaped trimmers.”

He’s the sweetest Swede of them all

And he’s having an absolute ball..

He’s the gym’s intellectual :

(He’s their “Stockholmosexual” ! )

To his lust for the lads he’s in thrall ..

He loves “Hanging out” with the guys

(He’s hoping to win a prize !)

But here at the gym

His chances are slim..

Since it’s mostly a matter of size…

This looks familiar, vaguely familiar….have we had it before?

He prefers to attend in a suit

for his body is somewhat hirsute

and the Swedes, being glabrous

find hairiness scabrous -

the mark of a primitive brute..

The sandals may be a bit much

They’re a match for his Gucci clutch

and he lacquers his toes

a delicate rose

As a final beguiling touch.

Whatever the painting’s about

The painter has left little doubt

As to his inclination

Or his orientation

This work should be called “Hanging Out”.

He has a sudden hankering for Swedish meatballs.

When he asked his demure secretary what the attire would be where she booked him, she replied “let it dangle”. So he wore the neck tie instead of the bow.

Title might be “A Pool of Seamen”, if they were sailors on leave.

The health inspector wishes that he had been more specific when he asked his new secretary for the address to the sausage factory.

The Capitalist visits his Proletariat on their day off.
