How come the old guy gets to drink before the horses do? They did all the hard work.

Those are actually rentals – the man next to the horses is waiting for this payment.

When your plow-horses amble too slow, / (fertilizing the field as they go), / and the sun burns too hot / on your small stony plot, / take a break for a rustic tableau. /// The two children are both much too callow, / (and the smallest is sickly and sallow), / to assist you to plow, / but the fear you have now— / that your wife’s secret grave is too shallow.

On Silesia’s sunny plain / lived a lad named Alf Veederzain/ who stood out in his field/ Where he counted the yield/ of their acres of waving grain..///Also standing out in the field/ was his father, who loudly appealed/ for a slug of corn likker/ – but that likker’d growed thicker/ it seemed like that corn had “corn-gealed”..///What a coup, then, the Veederzain’s scored/ when the “corn-gealed” corn sluggishly poured/ from the jug where it sat/ out into a vat/ and the family fortune was sealed../ for the liquid, both viscous and sweet/ oozed over some shredded wheat, in a porcelain bowl/ which(well bless my soul !)/ chanced to be at his father’s feet !/// Of all of the happy mistakes/ that a m

Father rests and he takes a long sip, / of some schnapps, (he enjoys a good nip). / But then right back to work, / or the farm owner’s clerk / will “encourage” his toil with that whip.

Seen here taking a short rest when plowing, / the stern farmer is soon disavowing / any “horsing around” / as he tills the hard ground. / With his shouts the scared horses he’s cowing.

Hey Daddy, Mr. Kippling says his two oxen can plow a field faster than you and your four horses. I told him you’d rather look at a horses ass all day before going home to Mom! That’s when he said, “Point taken!”……What did he mean by that Daddy?

Whatever has happened to good English? “Gotten plowed” ? Even cartoonists must have had some education.

Shouldn’t he have plowed across the top rather than down? Rain is going to wash all that dirt downhill.

One guy mans the plow, another the whip while the kids spread the free horse manure as it’s “made available”.

It was good to be a dog in 1800’s Germany.

Son, I’m glad you put on clothes before you brought my lunch to me. I guess I didn’t realize you were a cross-dresser.

So, how is your mom doing? Has she made any money staying at home today?
