Salmon is better than mackerel. Puah!

Sometimes, things that adults see as a threat, kids see as a reward.

I can remember crashing a bar mitzvah kiddish and pigging out on baked salmon loaf. Deelish!!

Yeah, yeah—I know that “pigging” out is inappropriate in a Jewish setting, but…

Sounds like Hobbs is in for a treat, and, loving the expressions on Calvin…..

I agree with Calvin about the salmon. Now, if it was cod, perch, sea bass or shark NOW we’d be talking!

Now you’ve piqued his interest. Personally, salmon is my favorite fish – and it’s good for you.

When our older daughter was very, very young, she went through a “I don’t like pork” phase, initiated by we don’t know. One night I served dinner, which consisted of pork riblets in barbecue sauce (it was a frozen entree). Also, I would NEVER tell my daughters what I make ahead of time; if they ask, “What’s for dinner?” My answer was always “Food.” Anyway, she loved it & asked what it was. I showed her the box, where it clearly stated “Pork riblets”. Not only did that end her “I don’t like pork” phase, but ever since, she truly enjoys trying new foods.

Great, Mom…you just planted a germ of an idea in Calvin’s brain!

I was born cross eyed, and when I could talk, my mother started asking me if I could straighten them. I couldn’t. She probably had never known someone who was cross eyed.

One of these days Calvin’s face will be on bumper stickers.

Calvin might do a certain face. Hobbes might laugh though.

That took me back. My mother used to say the exact same thing to me.

Really, mom? You thought that classic “mom lesson” was going to work on Calvin?

Young bears and tigers eat salmon. Don’t eat it or you may grow into a bear or tiger.

One of the first things I learned in behavior modification when I was teaching: never threaten. (it never works, and only makes one look weak)

i love salmon. i have it a least 2-3 times a week. i enjoy salmon patties, a salmon filet stuffed with crabmeat dressing, and marinated with a California seasoning and baked.

I hated salmon as a kid, but like it now.

When I grew up & discovered my own likes in food my parents could not understand how anyone could eat things Cajun, Tex-Mex, Szechuan, etc.

But I didn’t serve it & say no dessert until you eat all your Carolina Reapers.

Now days the got meds for Calvin face!

Mom’s suggestion was not for that face, fella.

Ah, but there are canned salmon – red or pink – and fresh salmon and frozen salmon. And so many species of salmon growing and being caught in so many different ways. And oh so many ways to prepare the salmon for eating! Maybe you just don’t like the way your Mom serves it.
