Thank you Georgia for promoting getting COVID vaccinated! All of my family and I and my close gang of friends have all finished our 2 shots! No one had any serious side effects. It feels so great to be able to socialize again!

Happy to have gotten my shots and be able to hang out with my also-vaccinated best friend again (and also to worry about her much, MUCH less in her people-facing, can’t-be-done-from-home retail job).

Vaccinations are taking FOREVER in Ontario, Canada! Not enough vaccine and too many people wanting to be vaccinated. We need to do a swap with the U.S. where there’s a surplus of vaccine because far too many people are refusing to get vaccinated.

Just want to say how beautifully Tommy is painted today. I know cats appear different colours depending on the light, and I like when he looks more taupe than brown, like the real Thomas.♥

When my mom went to get her second shot, the gentleman who administered it was a zoo vet. Apparently, vaccinating a human is much easier than vaccinating a bear. No offense, Gent.

I, personally, will abstain and continue to hunker down for now. As I understand it, these shots basically had their beta-testing round skipped, so what they’ll do a few years or so down the line in unknown.

    I think I’ll wait a few years, give or take, for a more-stable version… at least. XD;;;

We saw all but two of our kids in person at a restaurant on Saturday. One daughter is a pharmacist who administers the vaccines. She said demand has slowed to a much less frenetic pace although it is still steady. Mid to late afternoon is a good time for walk-ins.

This entire pandemic situation definitely lays to rest the old sci-if plot involving the entire planet uniting to defeat the space invaders. We are a far too uncooperative and, frankly, unintelligent species to defeat a virus much less the rapidly increasing danger of disastrous climate change. So I hope once the anthropocene period ends in mass species extinction including Homo sapiens, the next creatures to evolve make less of a mess of this planet (which will continue to orbit the sun until the sun itself finally dies). Or as Robin would say more succinctly, we are all ………..

Tommy without a mask? It is hard for some people to talk and be understood when wearing a mask especially in a crowded room, large room where noise echoes, and people who do not speak clearly.

I am one of those rare few folks who suffer worse from flu shots than the flu itself. Last one I had left me sick in bed for almost two weeks. So no shots for me. I don’t egrudge those feel they must get it though.

And for fun, I suggest folks may want to look up ‘Spanish flu, 1918-’19’ and compare it to COVID-19…

Good work people. Those here who have offered testimony about becoming vaccinated and the millions of others who have or will have their shots are making a difference. We can manage this horrible virus and then learn from the experience.

With continued hard work, cheese-cake night will happen again soon!

People are in a lined up scene

With a mask on every face

    And they’re awaiting their vaccine

    At the critter-saving place

They ain’t got no time for lockdown

’Cause that year was pretty rough

Want to meet their friends downtown

All that groovy kind of stuff

So I’m a fan, Dr. Man

    And I can’t help

    But love you so

    Oh, I’m a fan, yes I am

    And I can’t help

    But thank you so

I got my second dose recently, and I will admit, it knocked me flat for two days on the couch, but as I said above if that was covid-light, thank God I’m now protected from the real thing. I’d rather sip Gatorade watching re-runs with my snuggly cats and spouse, than spend a month in the ICU, on a ventilator, locked in and dying alone.

My first reaction to this was Is that even legal? A google search tells me that veterinarians are authorized to administer covid vaccines to humans in Oregon, and my state CT, but RI made it too much work to see what the situation would be for the Big Pink House state.

Also, repeat to myself It’s just a [comic], I should really just relax.

Still need to get mine—I had held off initially, because as I had already had COVID myself, I figured I’d be a gentleman and let those who needed the vaccine a bit more than I get their fair chance first.

But since it seems that’s not happening because of silly reasons I won’t get into, I probably ought to go ahead and set an appointment for myself and be done with it. :P

I wonder if Sanibel’s vet has been volunteering to give People shots. I bet he’d be a lot better than the pharmacy doc who gave me my first jab. Sanibel, who screamed bloody murder when she was chipped at the shelter, doesn’t seem to feel his shots at all.

A tiny town if the vet is giving out the shots, and the pets came along as support animals. I had both of mine at the colliseum where the ACC and NCAA have basketball tournaments. A minimum of 5000 shots a day. Hundreds of volunteers and National Guard medical staff. So huge. All the adults who are smart enough to get shots have them so they’re now doing the high school kids at their high schools.

I spoke with my medic about concerns of vaccine effects, and he said they’d be a lot less severe and shorter duration that COVID effects. And having COPD, long term COVID effects could be devastating. Hub & I got vaccinated and our 2 week marker was 4/9. Still mask in public, but now can see vaccinated family/friends and that is wonderful.

In our county the stats are as of today 38% fully vaccinated and 46% 1 st shot vaccinated. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the 46% has not gone up in over a week. So it looks like we may top out at 46% fully vaccinated which is a looooong way from herd immunity. We are also up to at least 10% of the population having had or currently suffering from Covid. At least those daily numbers seem to be going down again.

I’m going to an outdoor club meeting tomorrow even tho we have been on the chilly side. I’m reasonably sure that the rest will have taken care to be vaccinated but I am still taking a mask just in case and planning on sitting with reasonable distance between members nonetheless.

    Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

Queen Catshepsut the Golden: It has come to my attention you want to investigate renovations made to the Great Pyramid. What is it you wish to find out?

Beatrixia: According to legend, there is a room filled with ancient papyrus scrolls. We know that the Great Pyramid was built on the orders of King Catfu, who was succeeded by his son, King Katfre. It is believed Katfre was not happy with the construction, and wanted to make renovations or possibly purchase a new pyramid.

Elvis-Anum: There is evidence that there was a wall taken down to create a large room with built-in shelves. That could be where we find the legendary Scroll of Decision.

Lupinium: I think we need a scholar and an athlete to go along. I volunteer!

    Elvis-Anum: But you’re not a scholar!

Lupinium: No, Duh! But Violet-Ifa is. I’m the athlete.

The Queen: I propose to send Bea, Elvis, Lupinium, Puckmosis, and Violet-Ifa to investigate. I will send word to Thomios to prepare for you a lunch.

    Puckmosis: Wonderful! A moveable feast!

This has been a test. It was only a test. If it had been a truly deadly pandemic, your species would be well on the way to extinction.

Heard this morning about a low-turnout vaccination center that moved its operation across town to the local brewery. The owner gave one free beer to each person inoculated. They soon started doing a brisk business. Yes, it was legal; they checked first.

As good a move as the brilliant Girl Scout who sold out her cookies in front of a cannabis dispensary. :-D
