so Michael’s original birth year was…?

Since this series started in the late 70s, he was probably really born in 1974

So far, so good. Now the test starts.

He LIKES this job.

When my kids did their driving test, all this name and date of birth stuff had to be confirmed by a birth certificate or other documentation. Michael is stumbling over this so badly, I would want proof and not just his word.

He is taking the driving examination. The tests will be given with little or no warning on hundreds of days, on all sorts of roads and in intersections. Few will pass them all.

Relaxation is no on the agenda today.

He has such power over Michael. I guess that’s why he has such a crap eating grin when he says “And Patterson, try to relax”. ;D

I do not think that I like that examiner for some strange reason.

Some people just live for the power trip they get in life. When they have ability to RUIN your day just for the apparent fun of it.

I had a nephew who kept failing the written portion. I think he got flustered.

The only time the examiner smiles is in the last panel as he tells Michael to relax, and that type of smile is scary as heck!

Check-itis – letting the apprehension/pressure affect your performance on a check ride.

That driving instructor is an evil, evil man. I bet his name is Willy Flunkem.

He’s gonna fail.

See for yourself that in the first run, Michael tells the examiner that he was born April 28th, 1976.

 

I’m all for leaving the original strips alone..

but I suppose Lynn feels she’d get complaints from those who don’t know that these are reruns…

Are some newspaper readers really so unaware that they’d read “1976” and wonder why Michael says he’s 45?

Took my driving test back around 1969 in my sister’s VW Bug. Parallel parking was a breeze!

It’s actually Elly’s criminally-insane younger brother who they usually keep locked away in a room in the basement…

I wish Lynn wouldn’t change the dates … it’s better to keep the original.

The guy clearly knows what he is doing, and enjoys it. Makes his job much more fun.

Reminds of 1958. Coca Cola - Chicago sends me (age 18) to get my DOT-CDL to drive a delivery truck. They send me in the only Diamond-T in the lot (chain drive and double clutch-non synchronized transmission). Funny to all involved except me. My supervisor slips the inspector $5. I pass. I think they wet themselves laughing so hard.

Is it really necessary to edit the year? We all know it’s just re-runs anyway.

The clock has started and we are keeping score.

Devious DMV tester. My brother used to be a DMV tester and he was very patient, even when the woman jumped a curve. He had so many funny stories to tell. Well, he can laugh about them now, he’s retired.

Be afraid! Be VERY afraid!

I LIKE this examiner. Michael needed his s&*$$# overconfident entitled attitude wiped off his face. Driving is serious business.
