Medicare for All is socialist. Public schools, roads, mail service, etc are socialist. Anything the government does to serve the people is socialist. Socialism is a scary word for Republicans. It is necessary for Republicans to use scary words to convince their base that they should remain loyal, because if they actually understood that they are voting against their own best interests they wouldn’t be Republicans. They have been taught that socialism is scary. 1%er owned news outlets have been telling them so for about 40 years now. So, if they are told someone is socialist, they don’t educate themselves to find out exactly what they are supposed to be afraid of. It’s a pretty shaky system and it’s amazing that people have fallen for it long enough for the country be in the condition it is, but they have.

Very nice, touching and appropriate ‘toon, Lisa. Sad to see all of the hateful comments from the small souled left here. I listened to Rush on an almost daily basis for over thirty years and can count on one hand the times he misspoke or made a cringe worthy statement. That’s a pretty good record compared to all the other media talking heads out there. For example, you can’t watch a single episode of Bill Maher without hearing a hate filled, foul mouthed slur. And then there was the perky Katie Couric on his show recently stating that conservatives should be sent to “re-education camps”. Perfect example of left wing thinking right out of the dust heap of the old Soviets USSR and the current Chinese Uighur concentration and body part harvesting camps.

I live in the Sacramento/ Rio Linda area and listened to Rush for almost 35 years. I called in when He worked out of KFBK in Sac in the 80’s , He was fun and engaging to Millions of Hard Working White Hetro Americans. It is clear by the comments here He lived rent free in the minds of sorry weak loser lefties that NEVER listened to the Greatest Radio Personality in History. I will miss Him every day.

I was appalled by the venemous style Mr. Limbaugh used. However, as he said he was just an ‘entertainer’, I took it to be just an act to amuse people who enjoy defamation of those they disagree with.

I was troubled by one of my daughters becoming his ardent fan, though, saying she listened to him in her car every day on her way to her university classes. She tried to enlist her siblings in her addiction, but happily failed.

However, after a campus romeo seduced her and made her his ‘love slave’, she abandoned her worship of Mr. Limbaugh, and replaced it with a fervent attachment to the ‘liberal’ politically-correct politics of her seducer. Nevertheless, she still maintained her vitriolic style of denunciation of those who did not agree with her.

Unfortunately, we see this vitriolic approach used by some here on GoComics to attack anyone who speaks up for values not supported by the mainstream media. Indeed, Lisa’s commentors seem to be largely composed of those determined to denigrate anything she says, missing completely her often cute, girlish style of drawing, and her early opposition to Mr. Trump, the candidate, back in the primaries for the 2016 election.

To us, these attacks suggest a gullible joy in hating those who do not espouse the currently dominant religion of political correctness. We understand, having seen this in operation first hand, that the pleasure of hating can dominate a person’s outlook, regardless of the actual facts involved in the worldviews under discussion, and can work against having any real discussion.

While I very much disliked Mr. Limbaugh’s style of address, it is no more attractive in those who have been seduced to oppose whatever he said using the same style. Denigrating, shaming, demeaning speech is still just ‘nyaah nyaah nyaah nyaah nyaah nyaah’, regardless of your affiliation on the many issues that face us as a nation every day.

Admittedly, if you lack the ability to understand any position other than those the media bombards you with, that is not your fault, it is your misfortune, and ours.

However, it would not hurt to read Eric Blair’s books, Animal Farm, and 1984, resulting from his observation first-hand of how useful idiots can be used by those seeking power. NAZIs aren’t the only people who lie to rule. Try to think outside the media box. Read old things that haven’t been edited to conform to today’s media, and evaluate the content. There really are multiple ways to think and live. Choose one yourself rather than adopting whatever is foisted upon you.

Remember, Mr. Trump was elected by reaching out to those who were tired of being attacked with hate speech by politically correct missionaries. Honest discussion is more work, but more rewarding, than diatribe. As a friend who works with our US military occasionally mentions, it only takes an outraged few percent of a population to have a successful revolution. This is scary. Please back off from your superhero media for a while and consider that you might not be the triumphant heroes. Talk with people, don’t scream at them. Who knows? We all might learn something, even if only to respect our differences.

As a professor of mine once said, Be intolerant only of intolerance.
