How much more desperate does Calvin have to be, that he actually does behave?

Santa seeing them when they’re sleeping etc hasn’t been much of a motivator for my kids. Losing a phone or a treat works sometimes. The most important things in my kids lives, YouTube and sugar.

I’m fairly sure Calvin didn’t vote Republican, either, which is good enough for me.

He hasn’t killed anyone but if he keeps sledding like that, he might. Maybe Hobbes.

But since a child can’t commit a felony or start a war, that’s not a very good selling point.

That’s the stock response where I live if someone talks about moral behaviour etc. “I haven’t killed anybody.”

Calvin, the key to the mystery is Santa goes by the parents’ interpretation of “good”.

Hobbes knows Calvin better than to write a glowing character reference.

Good throw-away humor in the first two frames. Watterson doesn’t fill space with just anything.

Calvin is going to have the same concerns later in life about getting into Heaven.

All I want for Christmas is a brand new pardon, a brand new pardon, a brand new pardon, And if I can’t if I can’t have a brand new pardon, I guess I’ll just wear an orange jump suit.

No one can ever prove I’ve committed murder or any other serious felony. Now, cannibalism might be a harder issue to address …

Oddly enough, sometimes you need a bad character to give you a good character reference. …ironic.

Calvin is a great example of moral relativism. At least he is only partially self-aware.

I feel the reason Watterson loved to do Christmas strips is that the concept of Santa Claus let him philosophize in a way other holidays don’t.

Judging from the number of times Hobbs has lain in wait to attack Calvin, his record is definitely not clean.

I’ve read that Sunday’s newspapers often cut off the top horizontal panels to save space, and cartoonists made the top panels irrelevant to that day’s strip. Seems to be true.

To be good enough for Santa’s free Christmas gift, “You have to be good, even as Santa at the north pole is good.” (Some of y’all will get it.)

Calvin, First of all, that’s just a song. Second of all, it wasn’t even Santa that gave those to him/her. It was his/her True Love.

Hobbes, every time you ambush Calvin you get on the “naughty” list. Surprised Calvin hasn’t used that line on Hobbes too.
