Masked heavily armored and weaponized paramilitary troops have been sent from the federal government ostensibly to stop unrest in some cities. City officials futilely protest this unsolicited deployment.

Donald Trump as president soon expanded his powers beyond executive and ceremonial duties within a republic framework. The traditional separation of executive and legislative branches has blurred; and to some extent that toward the judicial branch, too. He gradually took on autocratic powers close to those of an emperor.

In further imitation of the Japanese system, Trump has also become a shogun, since he claims to know more than all of his military generals. He claims to effectively use superior “gut instinct” in military matters, openly disparaging past and present generals as ineffective and disloyal to him. He even has adopted in principle the one-time slogan of Japan, “Revere the Emperor, Eject the Barbarians.”

This might be called “The Trumpkoku Period,” as he uses samurai warriors to quell the “Portland Rebellion.” They are well-trained, skilled warriors for urban warfare, loyal to their supreme “daimyo” — their motto, “Those Who Serve.” These samurai so far use traditional weapons of staffs and clubs, as well as hand-held “cannons” that expel loud exploding projectiles. More serious weapons are at hand, should there be need for defensive strategic force.

It’s possible that, if matters escalate beyond the ability of even a samurai Blitzkrieg to handle, a cadre of Ninja will be unleashed to take out the core leaders of the rebellions. No doubt, most hard-Conservative leaders would approve. And, again no doubt, liberal leaders and media would, in modern political context, anxiously demand, “But who will guard the guardians?”
