So many little details today. I love the Robber Mice perched on Elvis’s tricorn hat! And all of Lupin’s toe beans in the first panel. He’s taking this whole leaping in thing to a whole new level! And the poor woman thinking she’s actually going to catch him.

Thank you Georgia for delivering on that promise of a 4th of July Special in such a spectacular fashion! The costumes were outstanding! Even those of us who were unfamiliar with the inspiration could still enjoy it. I was inspired to add the sound track to my Prime cloud! I had assumed the whole thing would be rap and hip hop but was pleasantly surprised by the diversity of styles.

    STANDING OVATION!

My wife is a newspaper only reader, so I had to explain each day to her with the benefit of comments from Hamilton enthusiasts on this site. I wonder how many newspaper readers (especially in black and white) have gotten annoyed with this long arc.

Ah, now I see why the table had to flip—to fit the Hamilton song The World Turned Upside Down. Yesterday I knew if I waited, it would all come clear.

OT: Nushi update – Below this paragraph is what I wrote late yesterday for anyone who missed it and is interested. NEW INFO is this response from Dr. Pedersen: “There has been great improviment in the blood values and I would call them normal at this time. The A:G ratio is high, which we see from time to time and consider it a good thing. She definitely should be off of prednisolone. The ataxia should continue to improve and hopefully there will be no neurological signs by 8-10 weeks on treatment. If still ataxic at 8-10 weeks, you may need to go up to 10 mg/kg and see if you get more improvement.”

From yesteday: The test results are in and they look really good!!! The biggest marker for FIP is the A/G ratio or the albumin/globulin ratio and it is now in the normal range! Her total protein is still high but has dropped from 9.7 to 7.4 (normal range 5 – 7.1).

Her kidney health indicators (BUN and creatinine) are both still looking good, so no worries there. A small percentage have to stop treatment due to kidney reactions, the only safety issue that they’ve identified with the drug other than the sores.

Overall I’m really pleased and relieved! Thank you for all of your support and for helping me with all the ups and downs. There may be more of those, as the neuro form has extra obstacles to overcome, but this was really good news. I sent the lab results to Dr. Pedersen at UC Davis and I’ll report back on what he says. Nushi IS objectively getting better by every marker I know to watch for.

With everything that has been going on with Nushi and the loss of precious ones, I hesitate bring my troubles here anymore, but I’ve got a very sick boy here who is just starting to turn the corner with help from the “angels” at the vet clinic… but it’s been terribly expensive, and I wonder if the Orb can help.

Three days ago, Jasper became lethargic, stopped eating or drinking, and the emergency service found he was negative for feline leukemia (thank God) but had possibly hemolytic anemia. I took him to my regular vet the next day.

He was running a very high temperature and had extremely low potassium. The preliminary tests showed that he was replacing red cells, just slowly. Some of the tests are not back yet. The vet thinks he might have infectious anemia, which can be caused by fleas.

The good news is that the medication (Prednisone and Ceflex) is working. Jasper is drinking water and even ate a little this evening. He’s going to live, and I am so glad!

The bad news is that the vet bills totaled almost $830. I have now spent all the money I was trying to save toward August rent. I have lost most of my SSI and food stamps because I’m still stuck in this expensive apartment! (I had relatives helping me out, but they can no longer do so). Those of you who know me from past Orb posts are aware of my situation. Work is starting to pick up, but it’s different every week and there’s no way I can make that much in three weeks.

Here is my Gofundme for Jasper. Please help if you can, I am desperate!

The “Mice, too!” looks like it was penciled in rather than in Georgia’s standard font. It’s also lighter as if it was not inked over. I wonder how that shows in print.

OT: the GoFundMe address for Nushi is https://GoFundMe.com/help-Nushi-beat-fip

Posting for Scaeva as requested yesterday. It is very expensive to fight this devastating disease and the original amount requested was too conservative. Please give what you can. You can do so anonymously. Nushi’s progress is very encouraging…please see Shirins comment above. Thanks.

It’s all very well to share potato salad with cats and mice, but if this happened at my house I’d be scooping some up for the humans also. It helps if you regard pet fur as a condiment.

For (cat) book lovers: I just finished The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa. Told from the point of view of Nana, an adopted stray cat, it’s the story of a journey, and the value of the journey. It’s full of joy and kindness, and also the kind of story that makes you tear up. I heartily recommend it.

Apropos of nothing, I feel sorry for Cinnamon. Usually I have to wake her for breakfast, but this morning, she can’t have any, and she’s awake and looking for it, wondering what’s going on. Soon, I’ll put her into the carrier and take her to the dreaded VET, where she will have her teeth cleaned. So no food, no water, and she doesn’t understand that I’m doing this to her so she won’t be in pain. Not sure what’s going on, but her breath is bad, a sign of gums in bad shape. At least, the vet in the mountain town is slightly less expensive than the vet in the City.

Orbsters … need suggestions for fun stuff to do in either Cleveland or Columbus during the week of August 12. Already on the agenda is a Red Sox game in Cleveland, as well as a tour of the Ohio State Reformatory … at 6:30 in the morning … with a request that I finish the entire tour in under two hours. (https://shawshanktrail.com/events/shawshank-hustle/)

We also plan to spend some time with the Nephew Boy, who lives in Marion and whose favorite way to celebrate our visit is playing with all the buttons on the Woman’s wheelchair. That still leaves a few gaps in our itinerary, though, so I need to get those filled in if you have any ideas.

Just had a scene that would go with this. Making slow cooker ribs today. My kitten, Baxter, was losing his mind when I was putting them in the cooker. He was trying with all his might to Lupinette them. My husband is going to have A LOT of fun when he goes to eat them tonight!
