First for the first time in my life!!Hello cat people around the world! Due to a collaborative effort including me and the physics professor Prof. Mewliard at the Purrvard University, we have come up with a new theory for the reason cats can get into such small places!! Here it is: We have seen that atoms are 99.999999999999% empty space. (To put that in context, if the atom were the size of a football pitch, the nucleus would be the size of a marble, and the electrons would be flies buzzing around the edges.) We have, through the most powerful electron microscopes available at Purrvard, discovered that cats can actually compress the atoms in their bodies and decrease the empty space. Cats are actually much longer than is made out, as in a neutral state they are actually 49% empty space. This is how they stretch themselves out to twice their length in order to take in more sunlight (Recall the Calvin and Hobbes strip in which Hobbes points out: “Tigers’ tummies are solar cells.” This has been extrapolated through Purrvard to include all species in the Felis family.) This is also the cause of the ‘Longcat’ meme. Through a simple calculation, we calculate that if a cat were to compress so to eliminate all empty space, it would occupy a size of about 5 cubic NANOMETRES!! Unfortunately, a cat doing so would most likely cause it to collapse into a ‘cat hole’, a mass so dense that nothing, not even light, can escape its gravity. A big thank you to everyone who collaborated on this with Mewliard and me. This includes Purrvard math professor Whiskertash, for scaling, science professor Stannardpaw, for the solar cell biology, and astronomy professor Fluffian, for the notes on cat holes.

Love the contemptuous “Pfft” from Elvis.

And Lupin is wearing his “EVIL” expression.

I’m having flashbacks to Bram Stoker’s Dracula with that last panel. Haven’t watched that movie in twenty years.

Aaaaaargh! Run for the hills, women and kittens first … ;-)

Nothing good every happened when “that” look appears on a cat’s face never mind Lupin’s. And Elvis, there’s nothing wrong with cats playing with baby’s toys. We had friends of our family whose little girls always brought Barbies and My Little Pony toys with them when they visited and our cat at the time loved playing with them … we’d be finding accessories for a week afterwards.

Huzzah! Fluffapurrus Rex appears! Has everyone seen the adorable picture book, Kat Kong, by Dav Pilkey? This thread reminds me of that book.

Sigh! What is it this time? Nuclear weapons testing on the sea floor? Chemical leak into the ocean? Volcanic eruption maybe? Something has awakened the dreaded Fluffapurrus Rex! Sound the alarm! Evacuate the city! Call out the Army! (It’s probably too late already)!

Everyone who has cats knows “that” look (and what follows).

Lupin’s expression in the last panel is so perfect! You know exactly what is coming when you see that face. Is it wrong that I am looking forward to the adorable rampage of Fluffapurrus Rex?

Of course, the original was Kitten Kong, an episode of ’ The Goodies’ in which a giant kitten terrorises London. You can see the whole thing on Vimeo.https://vimeo.com/33122684And find a scrap on YouTube.

Yesterday was a good day for Sweetheart. Long but fun.

I took her into Depoe Bay for a walk, and to do some whale watching. Got to watch a calf in the play-pen area of the bay.

I then took her with me to a trailer-park where a friend lives. They are having a communal yard sale this weekend. While i was there i took Sweetheart to a client that i sometimes see. Had a short visit with her.

After we went home and had a little nap. (I’m feeling better, but still having fatigue issues.)

In the afternoon i had a picnic with a couple of friends at Fogarty Park, just north of Depoe Bay. Three people and two dogs.

It was a good day for me as well as for Sweetheart.

    Hall and Oates might say:

He’ll only come out at night,

    An innocent, mischevious type,

    Don’t be fooled

    When he makes kitty eyes!

    What does it matter?

How long you have worked to build

He’s gonna come and knock your buildings down!

    Meow, here he comes!

    Watch out, friends,

    He’s coming through!

    Meow, here he comes!

    He’s a ham-eater!

I’d watch out if I were you,

    There’s nothing he wouldn’t do!

    With those cat fangs

    He’ll tear anything apart,

    Cat of Adventure,

    He is coming for you,

While those kitty eyes melt your heart!

    Meow, here he comes!

Watch out for Godzilla in fur!

    Meow, here he comes!

    He’s a ham-eater!

It all started with a little innocent kitty peer pressure and some bad catnip. The doctor didn’t mean to leave the plant too close to the nuclear reactor, it just happened. Then he took it home to his unsuspecting cat. He didn’t know she was pregnant but he babies turned into kitty monsters that were white deaf and huge.

I am so glad to have people reading this who can give us scientific explanations for these feline phenomena. Remember gravity explained by “snoozons”? I guess the whole world can ultimately explained by feline emissions…

fastfur, thank you and your associates for the fine research. You may want to know that it has been reported that cats are actually organic tesseracts, and have the ability to exist in whatever space is available. This would also explain how they move through time and space so easily (ever catch your cat in the hallway, then open a pantry door and find a cheshire-esque smile staring back at you? I almost named my Tuxedo rescue-cat “Tardis”, but she told me she was Megan- named for the manager of the shelter..)
