OT: Today is the 2nd anniversary of Shadow’s gotcha day. And no, he he doesn’t miss being outside at all, he has never sat buy a door crying to go out. He has actually run away from the open door the two times he’s had an accidental opportunity to go. He greets us when we come home, waits by the kitchen with Cole while I cook, and loves a a good brushing and a belly rub. He is such a sweet, lovey, dovey boy.
That Trojan Horse looks so elegant in the leaf pattern! I love Puck using his pointer as a weapon and panel 4 potentially calling back to two earlier BCNs (Puck saving the Man from the robo snake and Lupin becoming one with packing peanuts).
OT: purrs, boops (very soft, careful boops), prayers, etc., requested for The Mother-in-Law. She fell at home Tuesday night and broke her hip. Fortunately, she has a friend in her building, a gentleman who comes and visits her every morning and evening (and who is absolutely, 100% not her boyfriend … but I digress) … anyway, he found her yesterday morning and called the ambulance.
Evidently, if you’re going to break your hip, the way to do it is to break it near the femur. She had surgery yesterday afternoon and is expected to start physical therapy today (!) but of course she’s got a bit of a road ahead of her, not to mention the frequent prognosis of which we do not speak for any 75-year-old woman who breaks her hip.
In the meantime, though, The Woman did speak with her last night and she sounded surprisingly good, given the circumstances.
We put on our fall flannel sheets last Saturday. Three cats were under the fitted sheet in 10 seconds or less. And did not seem to care when the other layers were added. When it gets colder they like to sandwich themselves between the wool blanket and the comforter. I think one or two of them have spent the better part of a day (18+ hours) under there on occasion.
About 3 weeks ago a friend of ours passed away unexpectedly, she cared for two beautiful long hair orange tabbys. these cats were assumed to be from a feral colony in the area. she would feed them every day and they stayed on or near her porch and stairs, not really trusting anyone. She refered to them as the ferals, however I said they had given up their feral cards long ago. I worked with a local rescue SOS NW to trap them and all went very well. we placed a drop trap and I fed them in the trap for about 3 days. we then set the trap and very easily trapped them. long story short, both are doing fine and are in good health.
Now I think Goldie would buy Puck’s explination more than Elvis’s poor understanding of the world. At least Puck’s Trojan horse explination makes sense.
I thought I posted this earlier but it’s not showing up, so:
I had a reply yesterday from rs0204 who asked me to pass along that he has give us a new, free short story with art on https://gibletbelle.com, under Case Files. It’s called Giblet and Belle: Kitten Conundrum, and features Hamilton A. Cat and Holly Bear. I read it, it’s so cute!
And Pucky is doing the Australian Crawl (swimming move) in the last panel. The leaves are trying to pull him under, but he’s battling to keep his head above… leaves.

An hour later . . . “Um, what happened to the new blanket?”

Very sensible. Puck. Goldie has lived outside among the leaves, and has clearly been brainwashed by them. Only your efforts can stave off doom.

Puck’s right!
That “Trojan horse” is wearing a Roman Toga and clearly the sculpture is Greek- not Roman or Trojan!
… and why does it reek of moussaka and tzatziki sauce?
That “toga” also appears to be the wrong era, Roman, yes – circa 1973 – during the Animal House times – worn “Bluto” style.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Serfig-Aro: I regret to announce the fall of Troy!
Beatrixia: Oh no, how did it happen?
Serfig-Aro: He was pruning some trees for Burt-Ra, and he was standing on a sawhorse. He lost his footing and fell.
Bea: Is he alright?
Figs: Nothing broken, but he’ll be out of action for a week or so. I’m sure he’d appreciate visitors.
At Troy’s Home
Puckmosis: How are you feeling, Troy?
Troy: Much better, thank you. Thomios brought me over some sliced ham. Like a sandwich?
Puck: Thanks. Don’t mind if I do. Don’t get up, I’ll fix them.
Elvis-Anum: I’ll brew some tea. Say, do you know what today is?
Beatrixia: The first day of autumn. We should celebrate with some pumpkin scones.
Puck: And it just so happens we have some when we didn’t have any a few minutes ago. Anyone hear giggling in the background?
Bea: I’m sure no one will tell how the scones got here.
