I hate when i get a song any song stuck in my head.
♫ This is the song that never ends! It just goes on and on, my friends! Somebody started singing it, not knowing what it was, and they’ll continue singing it forever just because . . . ♫
You have a song stuck in your head, too? Gee, it’s a small world…(sorry.) (But not very.)
there are some old-time jingles that are stuck in my head every once in while (don’t know of anyone within my social circle who also remembers them when I bring them up)
take this McDonald’s one for example: good time, great taste, that’s why this is our place, good time, great taste of McDonald’s
Earworms should NEVER be hummed, whistled, played or spoken out loud. There’s a rumor that an English department of dirty tricks introduced some German ones into those near der Führer, thus effectively shortening the war in Europe as the enemy found itself with leaders who couldn’t sleep, couldn’t think, couldn’t STOP HUMMING !!
I had a customer once who was looking for something which we did not have in stock. I told him he might be able to find it at Menard’s. He told me he hates shopping at Menard’s because he used to work there and he would hear them play their jingle so many times every day, it drove him nuts. He asked me to please not repeat the jingle or he’d never get it out of his head. He made me realize that I hate shopping at Menard’s for the same reason. Just in one short shopping trip, you might hear that jingle 15 or 20 times (no exaggeration). I don’t know how the workers there can stand it.
Could be worse, could be “she’s a little bit country, I’m a little bit rock and roll”
“Head On. Apply directly to the forehead. Head On. Apply directly to the forehead. Head On. Apply directly to the forehead. Head On. Apply directly to the forehead.”
I know it’s not a song, but that’s what the final panel made me think of.
Thanks a lot!!!!!
Happens to me all the time! I get Kit Kat mixed up with Tic-Tac!
AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGG !!!!!!!!!!!!Earworm , just heard one not a jingle its the music that a local news station uses for winter storm segments AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Earworm !
I have a co-worker who used to do that to me all the time with the theme from Green Acres! Just about drove me crazy!
mmm white chocolate kit-kats
Shades of Monty Python …………….
Irish sea shantys stick in my head
Schaefer is the one beer to to have when you’re having more than one
After reading all the above, and listening to “Knock, knock, knock on Heaven’s door” on Pandora, it’s now just a cacophony of noise in my head. So at least none of the earworms stuck. As the morning goes on though, and I forget them one by one, later that “Small world” one is going to drive me nuts.
I tend to get actual songs stuck in my head or at least 10-sec loops from actual songs.
“O, I wish I was an Oscar Meyer wiener, that is what I truly want to be…./’cause if I was an Oscar Meyer wiener, everyone would be in love with me…”
Go to youtube…500 miles, Peter, Paul and Mary…now, you’ll have company for the rest of the day.
“If you hear the whistle blow, you will know that I am gone…”
One last golden oldie from about 70 years ago, which some of you may remember fondly," School bells ring, and children sing, it’s back to Robert Hall again, mother knows, for better clothes, it’s back to Robert Hall again…" One Jacket, one vest, two pair of pants, for much less.
Baby shark, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
On Amazon you can order “1001 Classic TV Commercials” on a DVD. It’s a hoot going through those old things (especially when you can remember most of them… yeah, I’m that old). “Pop, pop, fizz, fizz, oh, what a relief it is!”
OMG I know how they feel!!!
Stupid songs are contagious.
Mr. Crane, I will now most likely be cursing your name all day – at a minimum! You, Sir, are evil.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got put the headphones on & try to cleanse my subconscious of that filth………
I had students who used to do that to me for “fun”. (there prime weapon of choice was The Banana Splits theme. ………sorry)
I have some in my fridge! Think I will go eat one! :-)
I used to have that trouble, then at times I have 2 different lyrics that would play, I even tried to sing it out, now fortunate that ended. Hard to sleep with music. There was one on commercial based on Orange juice. To solve the problem I listen to dispatch online.
O M G !….that’s as bad as the muppets song….Munah Munah
You deserve a break today, so throw up and crawl away, from McDonald’s!
I’ve had the Willie Nelson cover of Argo Guthrie’s “City of New Orleans” playing in my head off and on for a few days. Don’t mind it since I love that song.
Just another benefit of TIVO/DVRs…..I don’t have to listen to annoying ear worm jingles. I have never heard this jingle (and don’t want to).
Besides…I like Twix better. Caramel nut.
The Brylcream ad managed to rhyme “a little dab’ll do ya” with “the gals will all pursue ya”. Man, if that wasn’t one of the biggest sideshow con job attempts ever!
Simple solution, just sing It’s A Small World … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxRW-duSCLA
Thanks a lot Brian Crane for providing those great lyrics, as I’ve been trying to remember them everytime that commercial comes on !
My first reaction was that it was stuck to the roof of his mouth and he was shaking it loose
baby shark doo doo doo
“What do you want when you gotta have something and it’s gotta be sweet and it’s gotta be a lot and you gotta have it now? Whaddya want? Lip-smacking polly-wacking thingamajacking oh, Cracker Jack! Candy-coated popcorn, peanuts and a prize – that’s what you get in Cracker Jack!” 50 years or so ago and I still get it stuck in my head.
I did it my way. You’re having my baby. Don’t worry, be happy. You light up my life. Que sera sera. Bad bad Leroy Brown. And… I’m a Pepper, You’re a Pepper…
Don’t you just hate when that happens!
“Double your pleasure. Double your fun…”
You are the devil.
Thanks, now I’ve got it, too.
My earworms can be anything, good, bad & meh. I fight the bad ones with Body Count.
What bothers me, is when an ad company, usually for a pharmaceutical, takes a hit song from my youth, and changes the lyrics to fit their product. That becomes the ear worm, but ruins a wonderful memory!
I was remembering the other day a fellow during my Army service who woke up one morning and accidentally brushed his teeth with Bryl-Creem. For hour I had this “earworm” running through my head: “Bryl-Creem, a little dab’ll do ya. Use more only if you dare. But watch out! The girls will all pursue ya. They love to run their fingers through your hair.”
Anybody remember Alimite cd2 in your motor oil and your car runs just like new.
Now they are just “jangles”.
I have to laugh at this for a different reason. I work as a custodian at an elementary school. In one of my classes (second grade) they are leaning about the voting process and used candy bars as an example. On a big piece of paper there were four columns with a candy bar wrapper on the bottom. Students put post-it notes in the column for the candy they wanted to vote for. There was a Reese’s peanut butter cup, plain Hershey bar, a Kit Kat and plain M & M’s – the Kit Kats won!
Whatever you do don’t think of the tv show.
