As pale as Crystal is, you would think she was the one that wore an umbrella size hat to stay out of the sun.^^ Maybe it’s some kind of makeup that makes her look so pale

“filed suit against her for impersonating a strip of bacon.”^I wouldn’t doubt that…. and on top of that, she’d without fail flunk the health inspection even at the “Greasy Spoon Diner”…..Pigs would look at her and offer up themselves out of sympathy for us…
The goth is a hottie too. Speaks well for Tiffany that she hangs with Crystal. I would expect Tiffany find some not-too-bright girl who was impressed by Tiffany and wanted to be like her. Well – maybe it’s more like Crystal hangs with Tiffany because Tiff doesn’t have any other friends. I think Crystal can be generous in that respect.
This was definitely created by Greg. Who doesn’t wear a bikini to the beach or pool unless they are the lifeguard, a surfer, old, or plump? Or of course, a dude. Bernice and Luann are none of the above.
Holy cow, is that a real picture or was it photoshopped? I ask this seriously, as I have a grandma who would totally go to the beach in a bikini if she actually liked the beach.
I’d have to go with none of them as Greg is not Brazilian, so the best he could do is draw them with an American Bikini wax. Nice try though. Now in turn I have a question for you. Do you think somewhere far down the road we’ll see Brad & Toni adopt Shannon?
Bernice is a bit like Petey Otterloop in his familial excursion to the pool this past week. Luann’s one-piece is a bit frumpy; Crystal looks better than Tiffany, though the Tiffster is not looking too bad today. Each is clearly defined as her own person.
@sayleigh: I don’t think Shannon’s dad cares one way or the other. If the minimum-effort solution is to call Toni and ask her to come pick Shannon up, that’s all he cares about. He might very happily sign some papers that let him “off the hook” entirely.
I think if this were real life, and not a comic strip, Brad would discuss with Toni the possibility of the two of them adopting Shannon, or at least setting up some sort of legal status beyond “babysitting my brother’s kid”. Assuming Toni agrees, the two of them would have to further agree on some sort of parenting strategy. I think even (especially?) Toni understands that Shannon desperately needs some boundaries in her life.
Sadly, I doubt if Toni is up to following through with this. I think she’d be likely to agree with Brad, in private, that the two of them need to present a unified front in setting limits for Shannon, but the first time Shannon pulls some confrontational BS, Toni is going to roll right over on Brad and show Shannon that she can play them against one another. This will not end happily.
I’d like to be wrong about this, but I don’t think Toni is strong enough, where Shannon is concerned, to work with Brad on being the kind of parents Shannon so desperately needs.
Then again, it’s really just a comic strip. The Evanses can take this in any direction they want.
No kidding…Bernice is just an idiot!! At least Crystal has what appears to be a swimsuit on! Why is Bernice wearing jeans and a sweater? Is she terminally ill?
take aside the goth style of Crystal and the aptitude of Tiff and the head, their body are similar, and both are willing to show their sexiness (but Crystal does it without shwing as much as Tiff)
i agree with everything you wrote.sometimes opposites attract and that’s a good thing.my parents don’t have much in common but they’ve been together for a very long time.
Another thing about today’s strip, is the reflection that friends can tend to have upon the other friend, as well as themselves….like some earlier asked, what does Tiffany see in Crystal, and what could Crystal possibly see in Tiffany (besides a TV sitcom whenever she opens her mouth)?Same with Lu/Crystal/Delta….==It’s just like the elements… different combinations of elements or chemicals seem totally opposite, but together form a bond that is not only unbreakable but actually shows how one element brings out the strengths of the other, or in supplying what the other lacked, shows the “deficiencies” of the other (which isn’t always a negative thing, just shows how everyone and everything has a purpose and is needed, and how there’s variety in God’s creation)…==So people are the same way…..people’s styles can at times not only reflect who and what they are individually, but their friends can also give a reflection about that person, as well… sometimes our friends/significant others show that a part of them is similar to us, or that what they have completes us as they provide what we may “lack” (or they also can simply strengthen/amplify our qualities that don’t seem as pronounced)… there’s all kinds of possibilities, but again today’s strip can also seem to show that our style, also our choice of friends can at times be a reflection on us….
Those who think Luann’s suit is “frumpy” and Tiffany’s is “totally Hot” or some such should remember something: one of the sexiest outfits ever shown on TV was that of Star Trek: Voyager’s Seven of Nine. Now, it helped (a LOT!) that Jeri Ryan has a figure that could stop an eight-day clock, but even so, she was sexier in that skin-tight lycra-spandex silver spacesuit than she EVER HAS BEEN in any swimsuit pictures, flowing dress, or other photoshoot pics posted anywhere on-line.The reason for that is something that fashion designers have know about for decades, if not centuries; the ‘titillation factor.’ If you ‘put it all out there’ for a man (and probably for a woman, but since I’m a guy, I only know about a man’s POV), then there’s no surprise gift to be unwrapped, as it were. Why bother, it’s all RIGHT THERE?Yeah, Tiff has a nice figure; so what? If that bikini gets any smaller, she might just as well not bother to wear it. Luann, OTOH, is nearly wearing a second-skin, Seven of Nine-style; not quite, but it’s getting there. And that figure underneath it is QUITE nice, thank-you-very-much.At least, in THIS dirty-old-man’s POV.Quill, don’t get in too much trouble – she’s still in High School, and so are you.
Bernice is just one of those people who either burns easily or she doesn’t want even the remotest chance of developing skin cancer. There are people out there who go to the beach or pool covered head to toe. I haven’t looked, but I’m pretty sure you can find pants and shirts designed for the pool, but provide complete protection from the sun. Bernice should invest in something that is a little more attractive to wear at the pool, than we can really compare them. Crystal prefers a more subtle approach than Tiffany who firmly believes that if you don’t flaunt it, it doesn’t count. Interest level (by young males with intelligence) least to most: Tiff, Luann, Crystal, Bernice.
“Goths normally exist in a flock…”^It’s true that some do… but I personally knew the “flock” kind", and some who were “lone”… but definitely is normal for both kinds… I can say that it’s more than just a “rare few”…
Remember Farrah Fawcett’s famous red bathing suit poster? The people printing it wanted a bikini, but she told the photographer she didn’t have a bikini she liked and came out in that instead. And they made a fortune on that poster.

I can concur… it’s like music… you experience new things about it again and again, which heightens the experience and you find new things to enjoy in it….
It’s been mostly fun hanging out here with you guys:) We’re all fans of the strip, but I’m getting depressed hearing my fave character Tiffany insulted and slandered everyday. She’s the bad girl, but she is not a whore or irredeemably evil as many posters like to snipe everytime she shows up. My best wishes to you all here, enjoy ‘Luann’ for many years to come!
Tiff is the epitome of a one night stand. Pour the coals to her for one amazing night, then toss her aside as so much garbage. Had several “Tiffs” back in the day. They do serve a purpose. Then you find the gal you love and don’t even care if she’s all that. She’s your rock and you trust her. Something you could never have with a “Tiff”.
It’s probably too late to get this seen, but I completely agree that Brad and Luann have both shown amazing skill and some good success with Shannon. They’d be good for her, no question.
I’m just not yet convinced that Toni can break loose of the patterns she’s established with Shannon well enough to get on board with Brad’s and Luann’s methods.
There’s definitely room for some character development here, and Toni is smart enough to know it. She’s already seen enough to know that Brad and Luann are accomplishing more with helping Shannon grow up than she herself has, but can she get with that program emotionally, “in the moment”, or will she continue to react as she has always reacted to Shannon in the past?
As for Jonah, I hope he just stays in the 30th century with his Legion buddies (little in-joke for DC Comics fans).
Bernice is a lot like many of my older male relatives, who felt guilty about doing something just for fun (like swimming). They always wore regular work shoes and socks to the beach and carried a briefcase full of work. If there had been ipads back in their day, they would have been busy emailing their offices, not streaming a movie, while suggesting that it was time to go home…
