   And in response to many of the comments:

   Yes Berniece is uptight, but here I think she is just in “rescue” mode. Her adrenaline is certainly elevated, so she is would seem even “tighter” than usual. If she gets a boost of self esteem out of this, she might just loosen up a bit.

   I read a few comments, but no one mentioned Berniece’s smile. She is obviously enjoying her role as “assistant rescuer”. I think maybe it makes her feel needed, and so not the loser she had thought.
