    Kohoutek was originally said to be the big astronomical event of the century, almost, but didn’t live anywhere up to the hype. Through no fault of his own, Schulz jumped the gun on this one.

    This entire story arc was done in animated form for the special “It’s an Adventure, Charlie Brown” (1982), with all the original dialogue and the Alfred E. Newman cameo intact. It was unusual in that, unlike all the other Peanuts specials up to that time, virtually all the material was taken directly from the strips, with really nothing added or subtracted.

    The late comedian George Miller had a funny take on athletes who go on about God before or after an “important” game. I’m paraphrasing but it went something like: “Athletes always like to credit God for a victory, but just once I’d like to hear someone invoke God after a loss. Like, ‘Yeah, I would have made that touchdown…but Jesus made me fumble!’”
