This one needs to be printed and framed. The weak credibility of the GOP just disappeared permanently. From this point on, they have no argument about the border that legitimate.

No way Trump’s going anywhere near that river. He heard what happened to John Kerry in 2004, and he’s terribly afraid of getting … (wait for it) … Swift Boated.

When I was in elementary school, unguarded borders, north AND south, were presented as a point of pride. Now, closing them, not merely for security, but for racism and hatred, are a political football.

    The Political Groundhog Predicts…

Only NINE more months of baseless Reptilican diatribes to endure from the Tangerine Trumolini on down, until the clouds break, the drool dries up, and the sun comes back again.

    Hey, we can hope.

    HEY! We can also VOTE.

Uncomfortable American Truths, #29,740,976,634 in the series:

Reptilicans are about helping business at the expense of people.

    AND:

Capitalism has ALWAYS depended on someone — anyone at all — being the lowest group on the rung to grind up, wring out, and fuel its profits.

Ignoring basic humanitarian issues and humane action for moment, in order to don the Reptilican Thinking (ha!) Cap:

Why would Reptilicans be doing all they can to sabotage the needs of the capitalism and business they hold so dear?

[leans back to wait on the avalanche of humorously-outraged Reptilican rants]

Very powerful and largely accurate. However, it should be noted that there are US citizens who actually do care about the people trying to move here – not as pawns but as human beings.

Well, that sums up the situation accurately. Vote BLUE, for everyone from local dog catcher on up to president. Remember: you’re not voting for individuals. You’re voting for the future of our country. Tax the rich like its 1969 and we’ll ALL have nice things again.

Yes, believe it or not, the idea that there’s more to border policy than just killing all of the immigrants as they’re coming across the river or the desert or the ocean is not just a lilbrul talking point. For instance, right now, there are several million business owners across America, all conservatives, terrified that Republicans are going to have their way here, and they’re terrified because they know that their businesses would dry up and blow away if they didn’t have access to an immigrant labor pool. This is especially true when it comes to agriculture, construction, and the restaurant industry. But this is where the Republican pols are now. They don’t look for information on which to base policy. They’ve got a stage on which they perform their political theater, and their main concern is putting on a show, a show they think their constituents want to see. And their director, at least for now, is always Donald Trump, as this cartoon illustrates well.

    (1) Wow, where to begin? Sick burn on Biden! And on the whole incompetent, self-congratulatory government non-process process. While the entire desire to restrict illegal immigration is being woefully misrepresented. This is a common theme with the leftist agenda: a misreading of what “compassion” truly is. Embracing every topic that tugs at the heartstrings without thinking through repercussions, consequences and aligned dominoes can be disastrous. For example, open acceptance of immigration leads to a wide-scale scarcity of jobs. A wide-spread increased tax burden. And sadly, an increase in crime because this open border policy has no vetting. If only 1% of illegal immigrants are immoral criminals, then there is an increase… but that’s a pollyannaish scenario. Say you live at home with your spouse and three children, one a child, one a teen and one an under-employed adult. A family of immigrants comes knocking on your door looking to you for shelter. You let them in because you’re a good person. Now you and the other adults in the house have to buy more food, spend more on the utilities and are often late for work because the bathroom is being used when you need it. You have to spend money on building another bathroom and possibly a whole new addition to the house. Your under-employed child is now unemployed because the site where your child worked has hired a group of immigrants to take the place of the part-timers. (Some hires were a cost-saving measure, some were federally mandated – so the political objectives cut both ways.) Your new roomies are subjected to anger from your kids and spouse, and even you are having a hard time understanding their cultural ways. Is it too much to ask that they keep the bathroom and kitchen clean after they use it? When you try to express yourself, your neighbors and links on social media accounts end up berating you.

    (2) You then decide to make mental health therapy available to all, but the subsidized services you initially agree to are staffed by the same people who spat at you on social media. You then decide to pay privately for these services, which puts a huge dent in your finances and, it turns out, doesn’t entirely protect you from those therapists who decide you are wrong and unworthy from the minute you walk in their doors. Your kneejerk compassion has resulted in pain and stress all around.

Closing the borders isn’t the proper response, either. Some emigres are hardened criminals and need to be stopped at the border; it’s an inefficient system that simply waits for them to commit a crime here. Most emigres need training toward becoming accustomed to American values and mores. This. too, is costly, but vastly less so than an open border policy. And those who do not wish to work toward this must sadly be turned aside. “Compassion…” of necessity requires thought, work and structured sacrifice. So that our compassion may blossom into appreciable gains for all involved.

The last time there was comprehensive immigration reform was way back when Ronald Reagan’s handlers were the president. There was a chance for at least some reform before Traitor Trump decided to open his severely brain-damaged yap. (Of course, like his career criminal father Fred, the career criminal Donald always had plenty of illegal aliens at his properties.)

I’m going to say this again. Until Republicans decide to start throwing employers in jail for hiring illegals, they’re not even remotely serious about immigration. Do you want to know the only effective way to stop people coming here? Hang a sign at the border that says NO JOBS FOR NON-CITIZENS! And that’ll stop everyone who isn’t a legitimate asylum seeker (For the record, according to government data up to the end of Obama’s 2nd term, only 20-30% of asylum claims were successful with the rest being sent back to their countries). Mandatory E-Verify and spend money to strengthen it. Set up a robust farm worker program because they’re the only ones who are going to do those jobs (I grew up on a farm fwiw). Then, when you get everything settled, you can start tweaking the amount of legal immigration you allow per year because we’re going to need immigrants. You can look at the birthrate data for proof of that.

Republicans are the only ones screaming Open Borders and have been for years at the behest of their 1% masters who love hiring illegals they can screw over constantly, and it is one of the few things they can run on since they’re an intellectual bankrupt party with 0 good ideas for over 30 years.

There just HAS TO BE some decent republicans who are fed up with Trumpy! Maybe whatever information Trump has on them, they could be granted immunity for it in exchange for the truth about him! I can’t fathom why Trump has such a grip on these people.

Imagine the courage required to make the ~1800 mile trek from Nicaragua to the southern border. Think of how much stronger your own community would be when filled with people of such strength.

But this is perceived as a threat.

There are multiple lies in this cartoon, so I’ll just point out one: the majority of razor wire is not on the water. It is not preventing someone from climbing out of the Rio Grande before they drown. Even where it is on the banks, the water is at most knee high.
