No tv for Calvin for couple months.
Blaming aliens again, Calvin?
The alien is as real as Hobbes.
Demogorgons? Russians? A Deadite? Wait… aliens! That’s what we need for Season 5! Aliens!
A perfectly reasonable explanation, I’m sure.
After watching a bit of tv, the aliens realize this planet cannot be a threat to them.
That little alien gives new meaning to the term “space capsule”.
Bill sure knows how to keep audience revetted without words.
I love these wordless strips…. they say so much more. :D
Next panel: Dad literally KICKS Calvin out of the house!!
Where is Spaceman Spiff when he’s needed??
Panel 12
I have never seen this one before. It’s so cute!
…. "And that’s why I was forced to switch the telly on! "
If aliens have been receiving our TV signal of late, it’s no wonder they would steer clear……..
And Calvin just saved earth.
Belive what the kid says!
Umm… Why is Dad flipping out over the TV?
They’ll never believe this for Show & Tell…
What exactly did Cal do to that tv? Must have fractured the tube but nothing in panel to suggest how.
Did it tell Calvin “take me to your leader”?
Later, Gene of “Crabgrass” will flip over his football-ruined TV. BTW: Wondering how many C&H strips were wordless
Yet spoke volumes….
He left because the TV on his home planet is far superior
Well, it could have happened that way.
Hey, if a little, hovering, lightning shooting snail tells me I have to watch TV, by golly I’m going to watch TV. No foolin’.
Calvin has an impostor among him
Like Chuck Jones, Watterson presented great humor without dialogue.
Happened to me at that age.
I don’t believe in aliens, and the aliens I’ve met don’t believe in me, so it works out well.
I have always loved how the TV bounces around to suggest how loud it is. Pure genius.
It’s not exactly wordless:
“△ : I ll ◻”
“∴ o o ll”
㋛
Hats off to Watterson for yet another priceless (and wordless) strip — leaves me (nearly) speechless. : )
Frankly, I’m surprised the alien did not take the TV with him.
Calvin, is lucky not to have been shot. His shrug resembles the infamous “Jazz Hands” which is, in the galactic community, one of the most insulting of all possible mimes. :)
Dad can get upset at Calvin. The creature is another thing.
This is one I wish I could make even bigger on my screen to see all the details. (yes, I’m at max magnification right now)
Why is the dad upset at the TV being on? Calvin is right next to it and he is allowed to watch TV. Don’t get it.
I don’t get the connection of the alien to Calvin’s dad being angry over him watching TV. What am I missing?
Little guy had to get his fix.
Not me!
the alien is a Calvin Doppleganger.
So much for the search for intelligent life. Or, he could’ve just come here and read the comments in the political cartoons section.
remember the lies when cable TV was introduced? no commercials, no censorship
