And those laws were put in place to pacify enough workers to calm things down. And, if all else fails, start a war to unite everyone. After all, if you are wealthy you have very little to lose and everything to gain. No matter what.

It seems that laws should be updated to fit the times and that many of these documents need revision.

Actually, Texas land belonged to Mexico until we initiated a war to grab it from them. See the Mexican American War. Perhaps they should grab more? Then, this will no longer be an issue. /s But, oh, wait a minute – we only want the land and resources but not the people.

They pretty much already are. And, it is so funny that Elwood doesn’t see that the whole capitalist system is set up by the wealthy and historically the state and federal police, national guard, and federal troops would come in and shoot people who were protesting to get living wages and safer work environments. Which is more criminal? Being powerless and having to join others to ask for living wages, especially when you are creating the wealth and being ignored as individuals? Or, being extremely powerful and using laws and brute force to keep people down so you can make obscene profits?

Read The People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn. Wealthy capitalists have done everything possible to submerge the rights of the people who actually do the work that creates their extreme wealth since the very beginning of colonizing North America. The book is very detailed about this.

Or one showing his contempt by sleeping through it.

Earl is such a self-centered man. Opal was likely worried about him when he didn’t get home on time.

You would think that the neighbors would know about him by now.
