Uh-oh even further; now the principal is involved. Sir, allow Luann to explain: Tara was walking by, she and Luann were talking, the kids wanted to see the archery in action, and Luann gave in to the kids’ demands.

I’m getting the feeling that for all of today’s buildup, nothing will happen to Luann as a result of this. After all, none of her boneheaded decisions as of late have ever resulted in any actual consequences for her. Maybe it’ll even be like Drama Camp, when a parent literally started waving money at Luann to get her to mentor her daughter (remember Fay? And remember that for all the hype of her becoming a big new part of the strip, she instead vanished completely down the ol’ memory hole?)

Told ya, Luann. Didn’t I say this is your opportunity to get fired? Next time you see Tara, run!

Awww! Shut up lady! Tara made learning fun for the kids and nothing dangerous happened. I hope the principal cares more about the kids than keeping some helicopter Karen happy.

A transitional moment in Luann’s life?

While he’s not a principle, dean or other official…he’s still luann’s boss. And no matter how luann tries to explain, her boss will circle back to “you irresponsibly allowed an unauthorized person with a weapon to enter the property potentially endangering the children. Luann, you’re fired.”

Luann turn in your I.D. badge and card. On your way out. You have been fired.

Arrows on school property by a guest who is unregistered in the office is a big no no. When I gave a speech to a class during career week, I had to sign in at the office, my son had to come meet me, walk me to his classroom, and then escort me back to the office, and he was in high school. That was about 1998, and I am sure it is just as strict, if not more strict now. They would probably have a staff member walk with me now. I doubt I would have been allowed to bring arrows even then, and for certain not now.

So is Tara going to get Luann fired? Are they going to look for a job together?

Looks like Luann is in Big Trouble!

I’m afraid someOne will be hurt really soon. Poor Luann. She may learn very soon how ungrateful and obtuse the scholar system can be. If they fired her she will be crushed and the children very sad. I wonder what Tara will do.

So the school will replace Luann with Nurse Ratched?

The woman in green and sunglasses – her facial expression never changes, either that, or she is wearing a full face mask so she would not be identified as the one who ratted Luann and Tara out. She would make a good poker player, except for the reflection of the cards in her glasses. She looks like she might be a lot of fun. Not.

Once again, Tara causes trouble—even without meaning to.

So, we got us a Karen or the government? And is there a difference?

Tara, truth be told, is being a lot more responsible than when she first appeared. Educated and entertained the kids and still kept clear boundaries in connection with her demonstration. Now, if there’s a zero-tolerance policy about weapons, I’d be interested in seeing whether it would cover something like a bullwhip.

Gee, I grew up in Grayling, Michigan — when it was “Archery Capital of the World”. I can remember taking my bow to school so that I could hunt deer afterward. Come to think of it, I bought my rifle in for the same reason. That’s the nice thing about growing up in a small town in a rural area — almost everyone has a lot of experience with fire arms and archery tackle and they don’t freak out at the sight of it.

I wonder if other countries have to deal with miserable, entitled Karens, or if it’s just and American thing.

its probably a combination of the zero tolerance policy for weapons on campus (have you heard the story about the kid who was suspended for bringing in a butter knife) combined with unauthorized stranger on campus combined with zero tolerance for anything resembling weapons (banning of guns and swords in halloween costumes)

Luann is gonna get fired again.

I hazard a prediction that Luann won’t get fired and Tara may end up gaining something in the process.

No one has mentioned that reason Luann could be trouble might be the fact that weapons were brought onto school property. Not all states allow guns, knives, bows and arrows etc. That is a felony.

The “karen lady” looks familiar…. Have we ever seen her before?

Whatever happened to that middle-school girl who was hanging around Luann for a short time… I think her name was Faye… ?

The woman may be a professional archer and she likes what she sees.

How embarrasing to get called out in front of the kids

Beware of people wearing sunglasses indoors. It’s never a good sign.

Being contrarian I think a patented GnK misdirection is in store. Compare how a Tiffany is with the kids when she has visited the school in the past with Tara. Tiffany is far less concerned with communicating with them than Tara did here, she is quite a hit. Not just because of the subject—arrows and archery—but because how she connects. Ms. Adventurous to be a “cool” teacher. Offered a job? Could happen.

Hopefully Tara can make this ‘Karen’ look like the total idiot that they are.

Now comes Principal Pergus and friend. It appears that Luann may have her own Ann Eiffel assigned to her for awhile.

I hate the term “Karen”. It’s biased and demeaning toward decent people with that name. Also, it no longer sounds trendy. It’s become passé. Let’s retire it, please!!!!

I know Luann is making this a ‘teachable moment’ but having an unauthorized visitor climb over the fence is probably going to get her fired, alas.

This is a strange arc! Surely Greg and Karen are aware of the near manic paranoia extant around unauthorized entry to school premises and anything remotely resembling a weapon. Plus the zero tolerance paranoia around such.

I find it highly unlikely that in the real world this scenario wouldn’t end disastrously for both Luann and Tara. If, as my friend 1212 opines above, this turns out benignly, then Luanniverse is indeed stranger than Oz. 8^ (

This is America. The threat of an outsider coming into the school with a weapon is very real. In this case, Luanne actually brought such a person into the premises.

Glad safety was stressed in this impromptu archery lesson. But looks like everyone isn’t impressed. Hope these two new people don’t reprimand Luann in front of the class. Or try to arrest Tara. :-o

I’m thinkin an EB tirade has taken place… but I’ll retract if it’s not the case.

Absolutely hilarious the people defending Luann. There is literally nothing in this situation that she has done correctly, starting with the archery. You might be mad at the mom but who cares when a complete stranger shows up with a bow and arrow (timing being everything with the Norway attack) and shows off for the students.

So suddenly it’s all good to ignore actual rules and safety of the students because it’s Luann? Gee golly, if she only asked permission first.

Knowing the writers this will pass on and no real consequences.

Luann would get fired for letting an unauthorized person interact with the kids. Even without the arrows. That has not been allowed in schools or day care for the last 25 years.

That word should be “congratulations” for getting the kids so into being educated.

Gads, depending on how far this goes, it may carry dire implications for Luann. Hell, she may even be fired from her own strip.

Actually, as of late, she has been relegated to a position of a third or fourth tier player in her own strip, so we might not notice much difference anyway.

Luann has no career, this is barely a job in any real sense of the meaning. Watch as the stakes get even lower!

Here come two of the reasons I would never teach in a public school.

The woman is perfectly drawn to look like someone you should dislike.

Yeah, I can’t enter even my own elementary school-and I went there! I have the old report cards to prove it, and I no longer own archery equipment! Maybe I should break in when I visit my mom, whether there are kids there or not, I’m sure that’d work out. (Geez, I want to see it though. Such memories.)

Current school officials will crap their knickers. When sanity still existed we kept our deer rifles in our high school lockers the whole month of November. Guess what? Not one school shooting!

The Hurt is coming for you now, Miss Luann. And Tara will be in trouble, too. Not good….

IMO, it would not matter if the “visitor” was Mother Teresa and she was carrying and explaining rosary beads. Unauthorized people are not allowed to be in facilities with children, for the protection of the children, and the adults caring for them! A person who reports this happening to someone in authority is not a “Karen”, even if she does have a sour look on her face. I am sorry that Luann didn’t have the fortitude to tell Tara to get out when she climbed the fence. Tara blindsided her by doing exactly what she wanted impulsively. But that doesn’t change the seriousness of the situation.
