While Hawaii and Six Flags would be be considered really fun, what would be considered moderately fun and slightly fun? How about barely, microscopically, and theoretically-possibly fun?
I own a timeshare at Disney. You use points to book wherever and whenever you want to travel. You can book as far out as 11 months. I also rent the points on various forums. You’d be amazed at how many people are like “Looking for Labor Day weekend!” which has been sold out for months.
I totally buy this—I work in a hotel, and we’ve just been swamped with people traveling about on vacations, much more than usual for the time of year. It seems now that pandemic restrictions have mostly lifted in a lot of places, people are overeager to get back to vacation fun to the point of overcompensation.
Not that I can blame them all that much. 2020 was a rough year.
A few weeks ago I booked a vacation in Yellowstone National Park for September. I expected to stay in cabins, but the only options were two nights in campgrounds in Grand Teton, with a $500 stay at Old Faithful in the middle. Nearly two months out was not soon enough for good options.
I’ve not had a vacation in over two years. Mrs and the boy are over in Europe again so I felt like maybe a week of camping. I called mom to ask about the camping gear (still packed away in mobility boxes) OK gear ready! She asked where I was going to go, I told her and she said you better check, lots of fires. Lo and behold, my three choices are all in burning areas! OK vacation plans canceled.
We’d let you stay in the barn, but we have friends from Lytton, BC using right now. How about the pasture out back. No cows, just 2 horses and about 15 chickens. Well, 14 after tonight. Chooks that do not lay for 3 years get “retired.”
I always go on vacation in my own mind. Then I post blistering Yelp reviews. It keeps the rival vacationers and rental fees down to a manageable level.
Growing up, my parents worked seasonal jobs summers. Vacation was spent at home, I didn’t feel neglected until recently(60 years later) when all this fancy vacation stuff started up. Personally I wouldn’t go to these $$$$$ places ever!

How about they go back to Cactus Flats? Or Skeeter Falls? Those are no fun whatsoever so they should be available.

This summer has proved NOT to be the time to return to fun vacations. Especially if you tried to fly.

If Andy would only turn on the AC, they wouldn’t bother going anywhere this Summer.
