“Your SS number has been identified as being used in a money laundering and drug smuggling case. We will cancel your SS number unless you respond to this call. Press one to talk to an agent..”

“This is Microsoft Technical Division. We has (sic) a refunding coming to you for Windows that you purchased "

“This is your grandson, Joey calling. I got stuck in Mexico and I need money, via Western Union, for bail.”

“This is Amazon. We suspect fraud in your account. Did you order a new iPhone 12 for the sum of $1,200?”

“This the IRS calling about your taxes filed for 2017…..”

If only we could punch through the phones.

If it’s not someone I want to talk to, it goes to voicemail. If the voicemail isn’t interesting, it goes to blocked.

We need an app that makes their phone explode.

And the latest is “You can get a COVID shot now, no waiting”

I like to tell those guys, “Hey, you mean you’ve been insuring my car all this time?I got some repair bills to send you!”

We actually got a letter in the mail, telling us our mortgage insurance was going to expire & they could give us a better deal…small problem…it was for our first mortgage on our first house, which was almost 40 years ago, AND, we no longer own said house!!!

Sad part is, many older persons still fall for this type of scam and give vital info over the phone. It is important to remind those in our lives not to give financial info over the phone… ever!

I’m with “some idiot” though. I don’t answer unknown calls and block the ones leaving voicemails trying to sell something. I can’t trust the spam alerts on some calls because they have been occasionally wrong.

I agree with the comments made about all of the scams and although it is illegal it is profitable and as long as that is, it will continue. I recently started having the (V) show up which is supposed to “prove” the number is legit we will see if it makes a difference

Some pluggers know that if they don’t recognize the number, there is no obligation to respond.

Robocalls often originate from either a spoofed number (the number looks like it’s from your neighborhood) or from outside the country. That makes it harder to discover who owns the number and even if it is discovered most laws about the calls are not able to prosecute outside the borders. Voicemail is your friend.

There are several anti-spam apps that take care of those calls. The only reason I keep my landline is for the robo and other solicitor calls. Never give out my cell phone for online ordering which leads to most of the robo calls.

I miss being able to record the “phone not in service” tones on an answering machine. On the other hand, if it’s not in my contact list, I don’t answer. Unfortunately, they are now using systems that can leave a message.

I realized my husband was entering dementia last year when he made 3 frantic trips to walmart to buy google play cards. I managed to stop him from giving the numbers to whoever was on the phone, but now I have $1500 worth of cards that I have no use for.

Pluggers grew up in an era where it was rude not to answer a phone… now, at their own peril… and the scammers are quick to take advantage.

Well, if The Bell System had not been broken up in 1984, we would not be having these SPAM calls from FAKE numbers. Just sayin’.

Use “RoboKiller”and I can assure you ALL the spam calls and most of the spam texts will disappear…….

I usually get those via snail mail, my voice mails are either about my Windows system (I don’t have one) or someone wanting to buy my house for cash.

I want a way to transmit a signal that ruins their equipment. Thought about blasting their eardrums but wife says I may get sued. I hate these people!!!!!!!!!

Worst ones are when they use your neighbors number.

as far as warranty goes, I get calls AND letters. Each one promising to be the last if I don’t respond. Liars.

I have a feature that forces callers to identify themselves if they are not known to my phone. Makes it easier to not answer.

I’m waiting for the app “Caller ID search and destroy”…

Maybe you just treated unidentified callers the way you (or at least sane, thinking people) treat spam
