Maybe you shouldn’t have set the volume to 11.

I remember the bands we had in high school: if you can’t be good, be loud.

I don’t know, Peter… can you afford to buy new dishes, glasses, and windows EVERY time you play?

I’ve seen The Who and Wishbone Ash, and yeah, they were as loud as their reputation. But THE loudest band I ever heard was The Outlaws sometime in the late ’80s. After their 15 minutes of fame, they went from playing stadiums back to bar gigs; but they still used their stadium-sized stacks. My ears rang for a week afterwards.

My brother got his first electric while he was still learning. The ancestors should have made him stick to the acoustic for a few years.

The rock concert that destroyed planets from HITCHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY comes to mind.

As an acoustic guitarist and occasional sound tech, I have never been able to comprehend the electric guitarists’ obsession with volume. They set their amps so loud that they don’t need the house system. Then they complain that they can’t hear their voices in the stage monitors.

Sure, Peter. By the time you’ve earned enough money to pay for all that, you won’t be living with them any more.
