    That SENILE , LYING OLD BASTARD has ALREADY SAID that he is going to try to RAM THROUGH a Senate Confirmation vote on a replacement for Justice Ginsberg BEFORE THE ELECTION!!!! Never mind that he ALSO SAID in 2016 that there should be NO vote on a Supreme Court Replacement DURING AN ELECTION YEAR!!!! That was ONLY BECAUSE it was a DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT that had the chance to choose a new Justice.

    McConnell is a malignant narcissist who has no more decency, empathy or concern for anything but himself in much the same category as Trump. The thought of replacing Ginsburg with someone like Ted Cruz or Tom Cotton, touted as possible nominees by Trump, is as disgusting as the replacement of Thurgood Marshall with Clarence Thomas or even worse.

    Time for the Democrats to get serious about the courts. At ALL levels. If the republicans are going to use the courts for their sandbox it’s time to take them back. Vote blue, especially in your Senate race if you are voting for a Senator this cycle.

    So, Dump, win or lose the November election, gets to choose another supreme court justice. And he’ll probably be another Roe hater, destined to put abortions into the back alleys of society. But, wait, I seem to remember Roberts was a strong conservative, a real Roe hater, but he sees Roe as being established law and not removable. Already, some of the other conservatives, like Gorsuch, have voted with the liberals. I remember one of our Repub presidents bemoaning some of Rehnquist’s decisions because he was supposed to be conservative.

    The thing is that most of our justices, regardless of their brand, tend to judge each case as it stands. Sometimes the wording of the case plus the wording of the lower court’s decision guides the justices in their decisions. So it may seem, from time to time, that a justice has switched sides when all he/she has done is judged the case as it stands.

    Am I worried about Dump’s next pick for the high court? A little, but not overly so.

    So, the next session of the Supreme Court begins in October with one of many cases already before it being whether the Affordable Care Act will be allowed to continue to exist. (I realize that Trump keeps saying they’re about to unveil the republican Health Plan – doesn’t anyone realize this is yet ANOTHER empty promise and that there really ISN’T a republican health plan and never WILL be – they don’t believe in giving anything to anybody!)

    America is going to need a full healthy court to stop the whining when Democrats refuses to concede the butt wooping the Harris/Biden ticket is about to get.     Yes. The right thing. The correct thing. Placing another Justice who applies the Constitution on the SCOTUS.

    Applying the document and its Amendments as WRITTEN, as INTENDED, is neither radical nor extreme. It is not Left Wing or Right Wing. It is the correct way for a Justice to behave.

    The left loves to claim that the Constitution is a “living document” subject to situational interpretation based on the societal whims of the moment. And in fact, they are partially correct.

    The Constitution CAN be changed. New rights CAN be created, and old practices CAN be eliminated. We call this the Amendment process. But it caters to great and sweeping movements, not to the latest fad or catch phrase. Dramatic change requires very broad consensus.

    A good Judge or Justice understands that only the Legislative branch or the States can make new law. When a subject or issue is important enough to gain a SUPERMAJORITY, the Constitution can be changed. Has been changed 17 times since the founding. It is not impossible, but it must be supported by more than a thin simple majority.

    One of the greatest strengths of our system is the safeguards that prevent tyranny by a majority. The SCOTUS was intended to enforce the safeguards our Constitution created. RGB was the queen of activist Justices. The embodiment of everything the founders did NOT want in a Justice. She and her “fellows” on the left view the Constitution as suggestions, at least when it does not support their views.

    Good riddance.

    Conservatism is taking away affordable health insurance from millions of people during a pandemic.

    Conservatism is ripping children away from the arms of mothers and putting them in cages and then losing them.

    Conservatism is ignoring years of scientific evidence that chlorpyrifos caused neurological damage to children because Dow chemical gave millions to Trump’s campaign fund.

    Conservatism is betraying your allies and supporting your enemies in the world. Even letting the Turks and Russians kill and rape the brave Kurds that were fighting on our side against ISIS.

    Conservatism is dead chickens in the mail.

    Conservatism is letting “Doctor Vagina” perform unwanted hysterectomies on incarcerated women because they were the wrong color.

    Conservatism is a future polluted and hot planet inhospitable to human life because the former inhabitants of the most powerful country on the world were not capable of understanding basic science.

    Imagine the excellent opportunity for Trump and the GOP! Trump nominates himself, and the Senate Republicans ram it through. Trump gets a high position for life that he can use to avoid prosecution, stay in the limelight, and keep his grifting going strong. Republicans get a patsy whom they know they can manipulate to vote how they want on every case. Neither of them have to face the embarrassment of Trump losing to Biden. Trumpers get to cheer and jeer. It’s winning, Trump style!

    No, they won’t appoint a new Supreme Court judge before November 3rd. It could hurt their reelection bids. But that certainly tops the list of the damage they are going to do between November and January. It’s going to be a very bad couple of months.
