And they leave out Senator Strom Thurmond, who ran for president on a segregationist platform, switched parties from Democrat to Republican in opposition to the Civil Rights Act in 1964 and who didn’t even have the courage to acknowledge his mixed race daughter.

There was a police bicycle squad established in 1888 in Newark. Police routinely use horses and bicycles in parks where motor vehicles would be encumbered. If you type in “Police on bicycles in US images” into Google you will see a plethora of images of police using bicycles including a picture that says “Police use bicycles to batter Black Lives Matter protestors”.

You would think that since Payne is obsessed drawing cars, he could at least do a better job of it.

    OK by the numbers

    1) Conservatives have shared a picture of Joe Biden with Senator Robert Byrd claiming that Robert was a Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. Robert was never a Grand Wizard. In the late 1950’s he was an organizer and member of the KKK. However later he denounced his membership and said that being a member of the KKK was his greatest mistake. In an interview with the Washington Post in 2005 he said "“I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times … and I don’t mind apologizing over and over again. I can’t erase what happened.” In simpler words Senator Robert Byrd changed his mind along with a great number of people that lived through the transformative years in the 1960’s.

    2) Deranged conservative pundit Ann Coulter always brings up Robert Byrd’s membership in the KKK to claim that all Democrats and all liberals are secretly racist, ignoring the overt racism in some conservatives and Republicans.

    3) Senator Robert Byrd died in January 2010. Seems like Chip Bok is beating a dead horse to death. What the hell is wrong with these people? Do they think that no one will simply look up this information? It took me one click on Wikipedia to find out.

Sorry. I’m too old to have seen the TV series ‘The Magic Bus’, but I do remember Raquel Welch. George Gamow produced several stories about a “Mr Tompkins” exploring the worlds of physics.

Good to know. The news media focuses on the irresponsible ones. I guess it’s a case of “If it bleeds, it leads”. A headline that read “Responsible Church conducts its services on lifestream or zoom” wouldn’t seem remarkable and therefore wouldn’t get too many eyeballs.

From APNews July 9, 2020: One of the nation’s coronavirus hot spots got a sliver a good news Wednesday when two health experts said an exponential rise in the percentage of people testing positive for the virus in Arizona appears to have leveled off.

I was talking about Arizona, not the United States as a whole. If you go to corona virus stats and select Arizona you get Arizona. If you select ‘All regions’ you get the results for the US. The state and the nation are both in deep trouble.

    Take precautions and stay safe.

At the Planck scale, time is just disconnected blobs and it’s only coarse graining and a lack of imagination that results in the persistent illusion of time.

Mr. Tompkins goes on a Fantastic Voyage sans Raquel Welch.

Mike Pence said at a White House Corona Virus briefing that they are seeing an indication of positive test flattening in Arizona and a decline in the number of ER visits.

Dr Joshua LaBaer and Dr. Deborah Birx associated with the WH both say that the positive test rate is not rising. However, if you Google “corona virus stats Arizona” and look at the raw numbers and eye ball the ‘new cases’ and ‘death’ curves, you will see a remarkable different story.

Alison Steinbach reports in the Arizona Republic dated July 9, 2020 “Arizona reports more than 4000 new COVID-19 cases and 75 new deaths as hospitalizations hover at high levels”. The number of patients in the hospital and on ventilators has broken all the records in Arizona.

Don’t these people realize that with the internet and a few swift strokes on can actually get the numbers?

    Go to church and sing

    Nearer, My God, to Thee

In articulo mortis (At the moment of death)

Caelitus mihi vires (My strength is from heaven)

Deo adjuvante non timendum (God helps, nothing should be feared)

    In perpetuum (For ever)
