I guess I am a semi-moron. I have a Facebook account but I only go there about four or five times a year and usually when Facebook sends me something worth looking at on my account.

I know that the FBI and other Law Enforcement people look at Facebook as a godsend for finding a LOT of really bad people who just have to post their doings.

I use Instagram (a FB acquisition) to keep track of the “grands” and friends around the world. I am trying to only use FB 1 time a day to follow my resistance/active groups.

Almost all those who participate in Facebook are hopelessly caught in a time-warp loop condemning them to seek the mythical brass ring of their pathetic middle-school camaraderie.

Perfesser Cosmo’s assessment of Facebook indicts himself for his familiarity with Facebook, unless it’s based on and prompted solely for research purposes.

Don’t have a any social media accounts. This is as close as I get.

I suspect that I am better off for it.

I do like the memes that my girlfriend shows me though.

Facebook and all the other social media platforms are like drinking alcohol … moderation is the key to enjoyment because it can easily lead to over-indulgence and addiction. Whether it’s the internet or booze, it is important to know your limit.

I like Facebook. I do have friends there (and I only accept as friends people I’ve met IRL). One posts new age flakey stuff, another (a neighbor, is a brushcut conservative) and another, from my hometown, occasionally posts religious tripe. I don’t hold it against them. They’re good people who are who they are. As long as that’s not all they post.

I have no FB, GC is as close as I come to social medias. (I don’t even own a smart phone)Mrs does have an account that she monitors for friends, she does not post. I look at it from time to time with her and it is amazing what some people do post. One woman seems to live for cosmetic surgeries. Every little nip, tuck, cut, injected, extracted or enhance is posted.

Facebook has its benefits, but like syzygy47 said, there are issues with folks who only share and repost from others. I just had to mute a family member who shared at least 25 posts from other pages in one hour. The other downfall, which I think may be attributable to social media, is the issue of regular people who apparently believe they have the right to comment on or interfere with the actions of others in public places (women who do it usually being referred to as being a “Karen” or “Becky”.) I don’t really recall people being so ready to jump in and start lecturing or harassing strangers before social media. Maybe I just didn’t notice because occurrences weren’t being spread on social media?
